  • speed detailer and streaks

i just tried the speed detailer on my truck and it left streaks everywhere. what did i do wrong??? did i use too much or something??? i sprayed about 3 or 4 times on each body panel(fender, door, hood, rear quarter panel, and rear hatch.) i srayed it on and wiped it in with a micro-fiber towel.

    thanks for any info

It sounds like you over applied it.When you use to much your rag becomes saturated. So then your are just moveing the product around and not spreading and then drying .

Like mopar said, it could be you applied too much product?

I wiped our black Honda Pilot down with it yesterday with no problems at all, mist some onto a panel, wipe with a clean microfiber, turn the microfiber over to the dry side and polish the finish, then move to the next section.

I took me two Supreme Shine Microfiber polishing cloths to do the Pilot.

i feel dumb now, i forgot to use a dry towel to wipe it off with. i just rubbed it in with the same towel which quickly became wet. i had used the speed detailer on my moms and sister cars and it worked great. thanks for the info guys.

I am haveing a blast using the big yellow sponge for QD-ing

Spread the QD with one side, flip and buff dry.

One other contributing factor might be whether or not the vehicle was hot to the touch or not. Also whether you applied the QD in the sun. I find that it works better if you do it in the shade and to a cool surface, just as if you were applying a cleaner, polish or LSP. Just my opinion.

            Hope this helps

I have been getting great results using the detail sponge to spread the product then using a microfiber to buff out. I really like the new speed detailer. I have began to grab that first now. All we need is a bigger bottle.

IBased on my experience, the Speed Detailer is less likely to streak than other QDs. I did find that Final Detail would streak sometimes, but only on warm surfaces or if too much was applied.

The sprayer on the Speed Detailer delivers a fine mist, but I find that I only need to pull the trigger 25-30% of its full travel to put enough product on the paint.
