Used to just dump a "glug" or two in the 5 gallon pail and hammer it with a hose stream...never again. After reading on here somewhere about proper mixing and measuring of it I did just that yesterday before washing the Civic. 3 oz. of wash poured into 3 gallons of lukewarm water agitated with my chenile wash mitt and "Woah!" Nice slick wash that did a much better job at cleaning then what I was previously doing.

This is something we stress in our Saturday Classes - the old adage "if some is good, then more is better" almost never applies to detailing. Nice to see you've done a little digging and discovered this for yourself!Michael Stoops

Recommending shampoo dilutions for all scenarios can be a bit tough. What you will find is that the bottle recommendation conservatively assumes that the car is filthy. But if you are clearing dust or light traffic film, 1/2 an ounce to the gallon can be perfectly adequate IME as opposed to the usual 1 ounce to the gallon.

Yeah I now mix my solution by filling my bucket with warm water then using a calibrated centrifuge tube I stole from my chemistry lab to measure out 4 ounces. It works great. Much better than guessing with the hose and blasting it to mix.

Problem here is our water is so hard it's very difficult to get suds out of most car washes with small amounts. I do have much better luck with Gold Class Ultimate W&W than with Deep Crystal.

I have always just poured a bunch of soap in a bucket and hit it with the hose to make suds myself. But after joining this message board months ago I have learned so much. I look at paint differently and have a dedicated measuring scoop for my car wash soap. It really makes a difference.
