  • NXT wax: hides / eliminates / removes fine swirls?

    (1) NXT wax hides fine swirls.
    (2) NXT wax eliminates fine swirls.
    (3) NXT wax removes fine swirls.

    (2) is in Meguiars web page.

Meguiars uses the word "remove" for their paint cleaners.

What is the meaning of (2)?

    (1) or (3)? Or both?

I think it is a combinations, NXT has mild cleaners in it, but nothing that is going to completely remove swirls. I think it hides more than anything else though.

When we say NXT Tech Wax eliminates swirls, the word eliminates means that it removes them a little bit and it fills them in a little bit, the end result is they are less noticeable.

Whatever -- It works. I noticed minor swirls and marring on my black Hemi and did not have time to use a polish before applying NXT. The marring was pretty much "gone" after applying the NXT with my pc and a polishing pad.

Will you get better results at hiding/eliminating swirl marks on black paint if you use NXT applied with an orbital buffer, or will you get better results removing the swirl marks by applying and removing NXT by hand?

I don't think it would make a difference as a traditional orbital buffer is very gentle to the finish, i.e. no abrading or cleaning action and this would be similar to what you can expect when applying NXT by hand.

You have to remember, most, not all, but most modern catalyzed clear coats are pretty hard, thus it's difficult to remove small particles of paint in an effort to remove a below surface defect without specialized chemicals, application materials and tools.

There's a thread I've included below where a member is having a difficult time removing swirls using a product specifically formulated to remove swirls with a polishing pad and a dual action polisher. So if he's having a difficult time using all the right tools, how much less effective will you be gently applying a wax with only a sleight amount of specialized cleaners?

Either way will give you about the same results, if you want to remove swirls out of the paint, then you need to look at a product like ScratchX by hand, or the M80 Speed Glaze, or M83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish applied using a W-8006 polishing pad on a dual action polisher on the 5.0 setting.

            Hope this helps...

            Poor #83 results - why?
