I tested out the new consumer Meguiars Engine Cleaner a few weeks ago but haven't found the time to post the review.
The first thing I noticed is that the product foams up very well. This is definitely a plus as the product hangs on to the surfaces longer and cleans better. It clung to the hoses and vertical panels very well.
The cleaning power is on par or maybe a little less powerful than Super Degreaser. Super Degreaser is really powerful stuff and can damage some sensitive engine components. This product is not quite as powerful but is safe for all engine compartment components.
The smell is almost non-existent which is what I really like! Super Degreaser can be quite overwhelming at times with its fragrance. That's one of it's pitfalls. But, the new engine cleaner has almost zero smell which makes it very nice to use.
The Process:
1) Rinse engine with pesticide sprayer
2) Spray Meguiars Engine Cleaner liberally covering every surface and spraying the product from the front and both sides of the engine compartment. This ensures complete coverage.
3) Agitate heavily soiled areas with a toothbrush
4) Rinse with pesticide sprayer
5) Dry with terry towels
Enough talking, let's see the pics!

What's left on the underhood is stained and will not come off without using some kind of cleaner/wax or paint cleaner.

And here is the engine all dressed with Ultimate Protectant:

Overall, I am very happy with the product.
The only con I see is that I used about 12 oz. of the 16 oz. bottle to do this engine bay. But, I would use the same amount of cleaner if it was Super Degreaser, APC+, APC, etc.
Maybe it could be offered in a 32 oz. bottle but on the other hand, the average person may have to only clean the engine of his or her car once a year. This would make this product the perfect size. Regardless, that is really the only flaw I see with the product.
Thanks for looking!
