Should i use Ultimate Polish or #7

looking for what will give me the most gloss, shine, and that wet look.

I already have the ultimate polish and have gold class wax for last step, but was thinking about getting #7 instead of using ultimate p.

What shape is the car in? Done anything before?

Ult. Polish and #7 do different things. Depends what you need.

the paint is in pretty horrid shape. haven't washed or waxed it in what seems to be year or so. swirls are just about everywhere (nothing you can catch your nail on), and the paint looks really dull.
my plans for tomorrow are:
wash
clay
wash
swirl x
ultimate polish or #7
wax

1. Wash
2. Clay
3. Clean - I might be wanting Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish on my shelf. But you cna try the SwirlX if you like. Might not be strong enough, but hard to say for sure.
4. Polish - If you need the UC, you can follow with the Ult. Polish If using SwirlX, nothing really needed.
5. Wax
6. Wax - 2 thin coats are best.

If the paint is in the condition you say it is, I would say there is a mighty strong chance you will need Ultimate Compound rather than SwirlX. Start with a test spot and see if the SwirlX has the cutting power you need. Really neglected paint will take a lot of work - especially by hand - to remove.

so that's a no go on the #7?

3. clean w/ ultimate compound
4. Polish w/ ultimate polish
- could i add #7 or is it point less?
5. two coats of wax.

or does gloss and "wetness" really depend on the wax?
Ditch the gold class for nxt?

i hear my paint is really soft. im kinda scared to try UC.
yeah, this is all going to be done by hand. no funds left for a pc.

You can always add #7 in if you like... wont hurt anything. But if you feel like adding one more product, UC sounds more usefull at the moment.

The gloss and wetness would come from clean/as swirl free as possible paint, and some polishing oils can help add more gloss. And the oils help keep the paint from drying out as well.

The SwirlX and Ult. Polish both have some oils, so not critical at the moment. Can try if you like.

Wax is up to you as well, Gold Class+, Nxt 2.0, Ult. Wax are all fair options.

I'll give UC a try if swirl X doesnt work.

If it were me, I would go with Ultimate Polish over #7 just because it will offer a little bit more refinement to the surface after all your polishing and/or compounding. #7 is really intended for paint in perfect condition. UP will give just a little bit of cut to help refine whatever is left over from your previous steps and will also leave plenty of gloss and shine like #7.

But, that said, SwirlX should leave the paint in great condition and using #7 should work fine as well.
