  • Ultimate Polish Strong Enough To Remove Etched Water Spots?

my truck has some hard water spots that have etched into the paint. i used swirl-x in the past and it removed them very easily. but my truck is also in need of a polish to restore the black color. so i thought if the new ultimate polish were strong enough to remove the water spots, it would be great to knock out 2 steps in 1 since i will be doing it by hand over my entire truck.

It should do the job, but You need to seal the paint after Ultimate Polish (WAX)

I didn't find Ultimate polish strong enough to remove anything but the slightest defects...it didn't work on my water spots at all. But every water spot is different! SwirlX as you mentioned did however do the job for me.

SwirlX is a polish, so if it did the job before, you might as well use it again. It contains polishing oils along with it's microscopic abrasives.

Both SwirlX and Ult. Polish have the polishing oils in them, more for the Ult. Polish.

As mentioned above, cant really predict how strong a product you will need.

But can always use a pure polish if needed.

Ultimate Polish is fairly mild stuff, so don't be surprised if it does NOT remove the water spots. Depending on the spots themselves (they can very dramatically) you may need to step up to something more aggressive.

i was able to wash my truck today, but didn't have enough time to do anything more than wash. i did a small test spot of ultimate polish on my fender. it seemed to take away the water spots. is there a chance they will come back after the polish has had time to cure? for now, it looks awesome! i really hope it works. the polish really made the black paint pop too.

They wont come back if they were removed....

Polishing oils can act as a filler, so if that were the case, and they arent gone, they would come back.

checked today in the sun, and couldn't find any traces of the water spots!! i have a second question though. i waxed over the test spot of the polish with some m26. i let it haze and wiped it off. around 30 minutes later, it began to rain. did the wax have time to set up? or should i hit it with another coat?

Ultimate Polish is something that I use when I see a slight problem with my paint, it really works well for my use.

"More aggressive" would mean what? I've got a silver 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 that I bought last year and lets just say, the previous owners did not take care of the paint at all!!! The body is straight, no real scratches, tons of swirls and tons of water spots! I have used Swirl-X and got some of the swirls gone but 99% of the water spots are still there. I have only polished once(Swirl-X) and waxed it twice since I bought it(both times i polished and waxed by hand. . . .ordered a G110v2 from AG, but still have not got it). Any help or info would be great!!

You would move to Ultimate Compound after SwirlX. Sounds like a good product for you needs.
