If i work for a lexus dealer, i'd say "OUCH"! Hehehe.. But since it is reapplied by the dealership at certain intervals, i guess one can say it isn't really a magical paint protection system. I'm not saying its not good, but the reality is there's so much airborne and atmospheric and chemical (natural or otherwise) that can severely affect a wax or sealant's longevity.. Even wiping down your car with a very dirty rag or poor technique can reduce or even remove wax protection.

What bugs me a bit is why some colors/paints have no clearcoats? It seems that in this era, primer-basecaoat-clearcoat is the right way to go.. Just wondering.. It seems like a step backwards..

Having also experienced swirlmarks on cars due to bad washing/wiping technique, i now find it hard to entrust paint maintenance to other people.. Pro-detailers aside, i feel the only one who can really keep one's car shiny is the owner..

      That's exactly what I do.

PLUS I leave a sign on my dashboard in huge lettering saying "DO NOT WASH".

I would never let a dodgy dealer touch it lol...

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

What one does to a car's finish in between waxes/wwashings is absolutely important. Its what makes or breaks the protection and look of the car. That's why i have a gallon of showtime detailer (sorry meguiar's, but i also love mothers) and just yesterday, bought my very first ultimate quik wax. It smells nice, almost like a tropical fruit drink/candy smell and goes really easy. Shine/look is somewhere in between FX spray wax and reflections spray wax. The sprayer/spray pattern is very fine and controlled. I've yet to see how durable it is. But it does leave a slick feel, almost soft feel to the paint.
