I think you got lucky with that quote for freight. 2 gallons would be approx 16 lbs or more. Standard USPS rate to Oz would be about $US120.00 for 16 lbs.

My bad! I based the shipping cost on only one gallon instead of two. You're right, 2 gallons would work out to about 17 lbs, which would cost $105.55 for shipping, bringing the total to $135.53. Slightly more than ordering locally from zas.

I will definitely keep them in mind for heavy orders for next time but I think you just need to work out which option is cheaper on a case-by-case basis.

I just ordered last touch and apc in gallon sizes for $122 shipped to Perth from zas.com.au
Buying these products in the gallon size from zas worked out to be much cheaper even though the cost of the products are more expensive. Shipping heavy stuff from America really breaks the bank

You got me curious, so I did the excercise of checking the prices of the items you mentioned from AG and then checking how much it would cost to ship to Australia.

The total price of APC + LT in gallon sizes from AG is $29.98. I then got a quote to ship them to Australia and that came in at $64.89. That gives a total of $94.87 which is still cheaper than the price you mentioned above.

I still think shipping from the States is the way to go!

I'm reluctant to change companies, if I don't know the freight charge. If you could reply to this thread the next time you order with the weight of your order, then we and others Aussies would know better for next time. It is kind of nice that AG offer a $20 voucher, but I'm more inclined to go with PAC's 10% off every order, because in my case that would always exceed 20 bucks and the 10% discount applies to each and every order.

In Brazil we have the same problem.

Just to give you an idea, g110 will cost US$ 420,00 from the local distributor. Another example: NXT wax $50,00. Almost three times more than in US.

I did not buy 105/205 by the gallon I agree that would be a LOT for those products.

The three products I bought in gallon size were Last Touch, M135 (very similar to UQD) and Synthetic Express Spray Wax (very similar to UQW). I do use quite a lot of these products, but that's still probably 2-3 years worth of supply for me.

I don't detail for a living if that's what you're implying. I'm just a fanatical enthusiast detailer who details both of my vehicles weekly. I find it therapeutic.

So I've got a few years worth of detailing supplies (maybe even a lifetime's worth for some products!). I'll probably still buy more products as they come along in the meantime - I also like having/arranging/displaying them on my shelf (my wife says I have a fetish lol). I thought if I'm gonna take the plunge and order from the States, I'd make it worth my while!

Anyway, I received my order from AG yesterday and I'm very happy. Customer service was great - I received several emails from them telling me what the status of my order was and where my goods were.

In the end, total shipping weight for $260 was 60 lb (about 30kg) and it came in two boxes. I obtained an online quote from USPS for the same and it actually worked out quite a bit more expensive than that, so I'm happy I didn't get ripped off...

However I have to query what Megs products you would order in gallon lots. I thought I got through a fair amount of M105/M205, but I’ve never considered ordering either of them by the gallon.

I can’t think of any Megs product that I would need to order so much of.

What is the breakdown of your order?

I can only assume you detail a lot of cars per week. Good luck to you if you are getting that much business.

I am from Hong Kong (HK)...
my last purchase from Autogeek costed me $250USD for products + shipping...
but it is still cheaper than buying in local stores here...
and I get excellent customer service!

Yeah, it was a big order. 21 items all up and about four of those were gallon sized bottles.

I don't have the goods yet, but as soon as I do, I'll report back here with a shipping weight to give you all an idea of shipping costs.

Just got my shipping rate quote back from AG - $260!!

I know it was a pretty big order ($US391) but still - I almost fell over!

I ended up asking for and getting a 15% discount on the goods (AG are having a sale this week but I ordered my stuff late last week), so I went ahead with the order and the $260 shipping charge.

I'll let you know what the weight of the parcel(s) are when they arrive.

I understand that but I wouldn't pay $260 shipping for car detailing stuff. I can get my car painted here for $1200 and thats without bargaining.
Meg's should have a few dealers in Australia instead of just one, he can charge whatever he likes, he has no one to compete with.
It's funny, here where I live there's a Meg's head office about 20 minutes away from me but I still have to buy my items at a retail store and pay 35-45% more then what Meg's online will charge.
