Weather battered black beauty...

Well the really horrible rains this season have hit Cal. and my car is getting the worst of it.

For about a month it has been nothing short of freezing where I live as well as raining (no snow though)...

Now my car has water spots from all ages on its finish (as well as a stray bird dropping or two)

Its really pathetic

Luckily I have 2 layers of NXT wax on...its been on my car for a while so I don't know if it held up after all this rain and such.

What do you guys suggest I do to rid myself of these horrid spots? I plan on washing my car no matter how cold it is this weekend and keep it in the garage until the winter months pass...

Sorry to hear about all of the rain. I have watched the news showing all of the flooding going on down there. We are currently getting hit with what is called the "Tropical Punch" where the weather for my area has gone from - 30.5 C and warmed up to +5 C. A 30 degree weather change in less than 4 days! Yikes!

I have been using NXT Tech Wax for a long time already. Moreover, I have had great luck with it preventing water spot etching. So, hopefully your water spots will not be that bad.

Anyway, in my experience, there are two types of water spots:

1. The ones that are more superficial and right on the surface.

2. The other type, are the ones that have etched into the BC/CC. In other words, the severity of the spots can vary greatly.


In most cases, I have found that to remove water spots will require a product like #80 Speed Glaze, a W-8006 Polishing Pad and the PC set to speed 5. If this does not do it, and it may not if some of the spots have etched farther into the Clear Coat, assuming it has BC/CC. If that is the case, you made need to go more aggressive, such as #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish, a fresh W-8006 pad, and the PC set to speed 5.
