  • Just got a bottle of NXT Speed Detailer!

I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was on the shelves at my local Advance Auto Parts store while going there to pick up some rags to clean my rims with. I quickly snatched a bottle and $7.49 later, walked out the door with it.

Too bad there's 3-4 cars out at the car wash area of my apartment complex (back at school now, no garage or personal water spicket anymore ), so i have to wait before washing my car and trying this stuff out.

well, car is washed...but it's too late and the humidity has already put a layer of dew on the top parts of the car.

    I'll try it out tomorrow.

Also, the bottle is purple...not clear.

Huh? I didn't know the Speed Detailer was available already! I need to stop there on the way home from work tomorrow. But they may not have it in IN yet.

I see that the Speed Detailer offers protection, unlike the other QDs.

So...........did you try it yet? Get busy!

So is Speed Detailer supposed to replace or be a better product than Quick Detailer?

                Hi Matt,

Neither product is better, than the other, it's more about giving people a choice. The two products offer different features and this give you our customer the ability to make a choice. Meguiar's has seen tremendous success with the launch of NXT Generation Tech Wax and this stellar success has led to many satisfied customers requesting additional companion product to the line. That's why this year we introduced NXT Generation Tech Wax in a paste and a dedicated quick detailer, NXT Generation Speed Detailer.

One product isn't better than the other, but after you have tried these new products, you might find one is better for you!.

                It's all about choice.

yes, i tried it this morning. It restores that "just waxed" slickness to the surface, and my car is shining very nicely. It's about on par with my zaino z-6 spray. Possibly a bit less "slick"...however, it had no white hazing problems. The smell is good too, exactly like the nxt wash and tech wax.

At $6.96 plus tax, it's a steal. (compared to the $15-20 bucks for z-6) I might go out and buy another bottle or two just to stock up.

Thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear it has that NXT aroma as I am addicted to it. I didn't get to Advance Auto today. We may not have it here yet so I'll probably call before I stop by. Here in Indiana we are among the last to get the newest car detailing products!

So how do the products differ Mike? I currently use QD and LOVE it, but I'm almost out & would consider trying something different. I use QD to remove bugs and light dust after driving my Azure Blue Mach 1 (she's a weekend only toy). I also use it to remove light dust after I arrive at a car show and before I apply NXT Spray Wax at a show. Is SD supposed to be used for these situations also? Thanks Mike!!

Does this make Spray Wax obsolete?

I doubt it. The Spray Wax probably offers a higher level of protection than the Speed Detailer, as the Tech Wax offers a higher level or protection than the Spray Wax.

All three are meant to be used as a system. Spray Booster Wax and Speed Detailer are for speed and convenience, and Tech Wax provides the base.

Zaino does the same thing with Z6 as a booster for Z5 and Z2.

I was wondering the same thing. Though quick wax would most likely provide more wax than the speed detailer, if the speed detailer does contain some form of protection and restores that NXT look, it might just replace it for me. Since I currently use quick detailer on a daily or near daily basis, if the speed detailer leaves a similar finish to quick wax, that would be great. One less step. I'll have to pick some up and give it a try.

I don't see any products really replacing anyhting. IMO, they are really different.

The sprawax has carnauba and would therefore be better used as a booster type product for carnauba based waxes.

The "old" quik detailer is not obselete just becasue NXT now has its' own QD. I don't know the chemistry and haven't had a chance to read the bottle, but I would be wiling to bet that the NXT SD replaces and boosts *some* of the ESP's in NXT. This would prolong the NXT finish WHILE removing fresh contaminants. Sure the quik detailer could do this as well, but it seems that the NXT QD would be a more specialized product for those of us using NXT.

The NXT booster wax is still a viable product for those who like it becasue it gives us a chance to apply a quick coat of protection after a wash. I would guess that the NXT booster would give more protection than the NXT SD. The main diiference between the two being NXT SD's ability to lift dust and contaminants while the booster cannot.

This is how I will use the products:

quik detailer: QD for carnauba based products

NXT SD: Probably use everytime after a wash when I am using NXT as my LSP. I don't QD even light dust.

NXT booster wax: Apply it once a month or as I feel needed when I am using NXT as my LSP.

Quik wax: As a booster anytime I am using a carnauba based LSP.

BTW Matt, all of the products are showing up in Memphis already. Advance has the interior QD, NXT SD, and the NXT paste. Ask me how I know.
