Yes, apply a small amount to the face of your pad and then spread the product out over the area you want to work, and then work the product into the finish.

For clear coat finishes, ScratchX is as aggressive as you can get without leaving new scratches in place of the ones your are removing. If ScratchX applied by hand will not remove the defect then you will need to use a product from our Professional Line and apply it with a machine. Here's what the back label of ScratchX says,

For most people, this will mean using a dual action polisher like Meguiar's G-100 and some #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish.

ScratchX contains a diminishing abrasive that when used correctly will remove above surface and below surface defects. As outlined in the below how-to article, if you read the article and then look at the before and after pictures of the etching left by the bird dropping, if ScratchX is strong enough to remove small amounts of paint to remove the etching, then it will also remove any residual polish or wax already on the car.

How to remove a defect by hand with ScratchX

Take note that in the above link/article, ScratchX is not a wipe-on, wipe-off product, you with your hands must work the product into and against the surface in order to force the microscopic diminishing abrasive to abrade the surface. Often times it will require multiple applications to one area because modern clear coats are so hard.

              Nice ride!

Also with the NXT wax do i have to apply another Wax over it to seal it in???

                  Thanks

                    Hi Dave,

After your polishing steps have been completed, just top with 2 coats of NXT Tech Wax. You will love the finish!!!

As long as everything is microfiber you shouldn't experience any problems or performance issues. Use laundry detergent, hot water and wash as normal, then dry as normal with not softening products.

                          Thanks.

I finished with scratch X and apply a coat of NXT to the Focus and waited 1hr for it to dry (Car is in a warm garage)
I buffed off with a MF Cloth and in some places i found smearing.

Only think i can think of is i did not get all the Scratch X off the panel.

Now i have gone to a different panel and apply first DC2 and buffed off and now on the motor is NXT.

                          Will this stop it???

                          Thanks

                            Hey,

I would not leave the NXT Tech Wax to set-up for more than the 10-15 minutes unless necessary, before wiping it off. I have found that leaving a product on too long can be just as bad as not long enough, especially if the humidity is on the higher side!

                            Cheers!

I went back and applyed NXT and it looked better.

Still a bit of a smear.

Once finished with scratch x does it leave a smear look on the panel??
