I was always impressed by how plain ol' turtle wax rubbing compound worked for certain applications and can only imagine how nice this must be...especially for the price.

No not really; it was actually fairly easy. My biggest piece of advice is work on a cool surface and in the shade because these products DO NOT like the sun; they will dry out VERY quickly (as in almost as quick as you move the towel). What I did do though was have a spare spray bottle and spritz the surface in front of the towel. This left the towel slightly wet which also aided in removal, in which I used a second, dry towel to wipe it off. I also applied and worked in the product with a microfiber towel instead of a foam pad, and am relieved to say it did not leave behind any unpleasant messes with micro-marring or such. As far as removal, if it dries it is a BEAR to remove, so again make sure it is in the shade so it doesn't dry, and if you do have drying problems, simply use the apply/moist towel with the dry-remove towel approach with a spray bottle of quick detailer to put a few drops of water on the surface (this will re-liquefy the product).

The amount of effort does not seem to be anywhere near as much as ScratchX, so yes it is a very easy product to use by hand. Just be sure to work it in the shade! Working by hand though, you will quickly realize that it may be better to do the panel-a-day approach and do the car over the course of the week.

In a way it's a hard comparison to make since these two products are designed for hand use ONLY. They are, obviously, quite effective though!

And this is one of those times that, when we tell you HAND APPLICATION ONLY, we aren't kidding. And it's not because the products are overly aggressive with machine use, they just don't get along with it at all. You won't damage anything, but you won't enjoy the experience either.

By hand though, they work beautifully.

OK, fair enough, however...

UC takes a little more time and muscle than I would like to spend by hand. Could this paste stuff give me the same results with less time and effort?

Maybe I'm just yearning for the old days*.

Another Question guys... Unfortunately I just have the Rubbing Compound but not the Polishing compound as it is not available here(out of stock). What would be the best possible substitute for the Polishing Compound? Can DC Polish do the job?
