I know its better to have two Grit Guards for the two-bucket method car wash. One for the suds and one for rinse. Now, if I ONLY have ONE Grit Guard, which bucket should I put it in? Thanks!

Re: Two Bucket, One Grit Guard
I am using the 2 bucket method with just 1 grit guard, in the rinse water. The grit guard in the wash water is optional for extra protection. Really, it is the rinse water that gets really dirty, the wash water not so much.

Re: Two Bucket, One Grit Guard
Since you have BLACK cars, why not just invest another $7 and have two grit guards, and have a little more piece of mind? I use one grit guard per bucket and still have dirt captured in the wash bucket sometimes. If you are on this site learning the proper techniques of detailing, I'd be willing to bet you've got some $dough$ invested in other products, so to me, just makes sense to have two in my opinion. There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Re: Two Bucket, One Grit Guard
The other thing about using the grit guard in the rinse water is to drag your dirty wash mitt against the grit guard to dislodge any gritty particles. I just routinely drag the mitt on both sides every time. The wash water really does stay pretty clean, just very slight residue on the bottom when I am done.

Re: Two Bucket, One Grit Guard
I was reading in another forum about what they call th 4x2 method. Two buckets, four grit guards. Each bucket has two stacked grit guards; so that it is higher in the bucket allowing for more room for the dirt to settle. Seems like a waste to me, two grit guards for two buckets seems best. The one in the soap bucket is for extra protection in case everything was not rinsed out in the rinse bucket. Cheap insurance.
