  • Questions about Supreme Shine Protectant

I have both Supreme Shine Protectant and Quick Interior Detailer. I'm confused about the usage of these two. Both can be used to detail/protect the car interior. My questions are:

    1. Can I use Supreme Shine Protectant in place of QID, exclusively? If it can be used instead of QID, it would be easier to keep only one product.
    2. Is Supreme Shine Protectant a cleaner or is it just a protector?
    3. It says on the usage label that SSP cannot be used on clear plastics. Does it mean it will denature the clear plastics or something? I hesitate to use it on my car gauges.

    That's all. Thanks, guys.

Supreme Shine Protectant...is well, a protectant...you shouldn't switch SSP with QID..because QID is designed for cleaning dirty interiors..you'd be surprised how well it cleans up some stains stuck on leather and vinyl...and it also leaves a matte finish..then you come back with SSP applied with an applicator pad to gloss up the interior and protect it from dirt, UV, etc...although SSP will help clean dirt off, you shouldnt use it for that purpose, thats what QID is for, and it wont strip the SSP off of your dash if used correctly (meaning softly and not scrubbed)..SSP shouldnt be used on clear plastics..dont use them on your gauges, it will do nothing for them.

      1. Yes, though you would get better results to clean a very dirty surface first with QID.

      2. A milder cleaner than QID.

      3. It shouldnt affect the plastic, but could be greasy and smear. I do not use it on my guages, just QID every so often.

The thing with the old QID is you can have your dressing on there, and dust the surface lightly with QID a week or so later on not lose much of the look of the dressing.

Now, the new QID is a stronger cleaner, so I do not know if that will still be the case.

hm... QID is a bit difficult to find in Thailand. Can I use Water-Based Dressing or APC instead?

Using a mild APC to clean, then protecting with Supreme Shine would be fine.

Even though I use QID in between, every so often, I will go over everything with APC for a good cleaning.

However, I would tend to want QID for the guages... It will be gentler and more lubricating than APC.
