I bought a bottle of QWD a year and a half ago in one of my first major Megs' purchases. I used it once and then put it on the shelf. Given that I was washing the wheels every time I washed the car, I just didn't see a use for it. My OCD only goes so far.
But the past three weeks have been awfully cold here in Roanoke. The snow from the big snowstorm two and a half weeks ago is still on the ground. I've been waiting for a break in the temperature to wash our cars, particularly the CR-V, but the temperature has remained consistently below freezing ... and so the dirt and salt has continued to build up on the cars. Today I could stand it no longer. I waited until early afternoon for the thermometer to get up to the high 20s and then took the CR-V down to the local coin-op. I used the high pressure washer (yes, with the commercial detergent--my bad) to wash and then rinse the car. I then drove the car back home and used a quick detailer to dry the car. The rims looked pretty good but there was still some break dust on them. What to do?
I then remembered my bottle of QWD on the shelf. I grabbed it and with an old towel proceeded to mist and dry each of the wheels. Voila! The brake dust came off as easy as pie, leaving the rims clean and shiny.
I bet I'll be using my QWD again this winter.
Cheers,
Al
