I am new to this forum but I have been a Meguiars user for many years and use it in my detailing business. I have always had a question regarding reducing the tire gel. The reason i want to do this is that I have low profile tires on my car and typical low profile performance tires tend to have alot of lettering and some times designs on the tire wall. The problem I have is that the gel is too thick to properly fill the letters and the go around all the edges cleanly. Normaly it builds up on the edges. I understand that reducing the mix makes it less durable, which is fine by me. I have tried sprays and foams and even using them on foam pads its still dosent last as long and flings. basicly I was just wondering if i should reduce it with a water based product or if a high temp paint reducer would be better. Thanks for any help

Re: Reducing Hot Shine Tire Gel
We don't recommend cutting or diluting this, or any, product. What may well resolve the issue for you is to try applying it with a wide paint brush (close to the width of your sidewalls) that has been cut down to bristles maybe just an inch or inch and a half long. That should make it easier to really work the product into and around all that texture.
If you can locate a Meguiar's Slide Lock Detailing Brush (discontinued item but there are still some out there) it should be perfect for the job.Michael Stoops

Re: Reducing Hot Shine Tire Gel
I have the spray and even when it is applied with a foam pad It dosent stick and last as long as the gel. Its too thin. lol. I will try a shorter brush and see what that does. thanx for your helpPerfected Reflections A.R.P Inc

Re: Reducing Hot Shine Tire Gel
or you could try using All Season Dressing (ASD) like some MOL members, which you can dilute, and maybe get a better result ? :]Ganesa,

Theres a difference in a person who has to do it and a person who wants to do it
