  • Best Polish Avaliable - Tell me your view!

First post on this forum so hello to everyone!

    I currently use...

    Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo
    Meguiar's Professional Clay
    Ultimate Compound
    NXT 2.0

That combination of products worked outstanding for me when I detailed my car last month. However, seeing as Ultimate Compound is a very aggressive product, I want to find a polish/cleaner that I can use every time I detail my car, every 3 months or so. Here is what I am dealing with...

    Sunlight Silver Mazda 3
Paint in extremely good condition, practically perfect after ultimate compound last month
The product will be applied by hand
Looking for the flat out best shine and wetness a meguiar's polish can give me. Since the paint is nearly flawless, cut or cleaners are only a mild concern, and a pure polish is acceptable I feel.

That said, the options I have been looking at, and my opinion on them, are...

Ultra Finishing Polish (M205) -- Brand new from Meguiar's, I have heard from people this is the best polish you can get out there. Cuts enough to take out minor problems, and leaves the best shine. Somewhat expensive ($37 for 32oz), but certainly not a deal breaker.

Show Car Glaze (M #7) -- Old reliable. Have read tons of reviews, mostly positive, but some claim the product is hard to buff off at times. Quite simply, there are better products on the market today. Little if any cut.

Hand Polish (M #81) -- Since any product will be applied by hand, this caught my eye. Heard many positive reviews on this product, easy on easy off. About $20 for 32oz, so a bit cheaper than M205.

I am leaning toward M205 because with my thinking...I can wash with Gold Class, Clay it, apply M205 to clean up any minor imperfections and give that great shine, and finish it all off with NXT 2.0

Give me YOUR opinion on any of the three polish's above, or another from meguiars. I was considering a polish from Sonus or P21S, but considering I use all Meguiar's products now, I find it hard to believe they don't make a great polish to complete my car cleaning needs. Give me your 2 cents!

Ultimate Compound is quite strong, and unless you are really mistreating the paint, should not really be needed again anytime soon.

SwirlX would be a good milder cleaner/polish to use more often. This is similar to #205.

As far as the best pure polish, #7 is pretty top of the line.

Although I like the new SMAT products,

      I still like products like M09, M80, M81, M82 etc.

        Welcome to MOL!

DC2 is a very nice product and is pretty similar to M07. It's also easier to remove than M07. I've used both, and that was my experience, anyway. If you plan on doing a polish and wax pretty frequently on a daily driver, I personally would go with DC2. It's relatively inexpensive ($6 - $8 a bottle), goes on and comes off easy, and it'll give you that extra pop in your paint. Hope this helps!

I think it all depends on your objective. Meguiar's pure polishes (#7, DC2, #81, etc.) are non-abrasive. They will not clean your paint nor will they remove swirls. They simply enhance the gloss. So if you want a mild paint cleaner, which is what it sounds what you need, then one of the following will suffice for your purposes (from least to most aggressive): Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner (DC1), M09, M82, M80, M205, SwirlX.

I think you should consider M09. It is rich in the same TSOs as M07 and M81 and so will leave the paint looking nice, but it will also effect a mild cleaning of the paint surface. But any of the polishes I have listed will work well for you.

You could then follow-up with the application of a pure polish, if you wanted to add a little extra wetness.
