SwirlX advice / info

Hi I have bougth some SwirlX with a view to using it by hand on my soft Vauxhall (GM) paint.
I am a little confused about the nature of this product though.

It's consistency makes me think it is more of a filler polish and this is how it removes the swirls. It is described as non abrasive so this makes me think my assumption is valid. Am I correct?

I am used to applying Menzerna products by hand so know how much effort is involved to remove swirls, but I like the results.

It uses our new Super Micro Abrasive Technology to actually remove swirls and scratches, not fill or mask them.

If this product is not removing the swirls in your car's paint then it could be you need a more aggressive product but you won't know until you do a Test Spot.

What's the difference between Meguiar's Super Micro Abrasive technology and Meguiar's Diminishing Abrasive technology?


Apply using a clean, soft foam applicator pad like this,



Work a small section at a time about a foot squared or smaller with firm pressure for about a minute and then wipe off the excess and inspect.

What condition is the paint in right now?

Flawless?
Good but has swirls and scratches?

Doing A Test-Spot

Before going over the entire car, see if you can make just one small section look good, that is apply the product you're planning on using over the entire car to just one small section about a foot squared or so. Work it in and then wipe it off, then apply the polish, work it in but not as much as the compound because now you're not trying to remove paint, just spread the product out, then immediately wipe it off, then apply the wax and let it fully dry and then wipe it off.

Now inspect our results. Make sure you can make one small section look GREAT before going over then entire car. If you can't make one small section look GREAT you won't be able to make the entire car look GREAT.

There is an easy way for you to test your assumption. Do a test spot, and take a good look at it afterwards in the sunlight. Do you note an improvement? Have any of the swirls disappeared. Now do an IPA wipedown (50% rubbing alcohol, 50% distilled water). This will remove any fillers. Examine the spot again. Have swirls reappeared that you thought you had removed? Has there been an improvement of the paint's original condition?

Do not be fooled by the word "nonabrasive." Many polishes are marketed as nonabrasive, because in the public mind an "abrasive" polish means a compound that leaves behind scouring and hazing. SwirlX is "nonabrasive" in the sense that, when used properly, it leaves the finish ready for the application of wax--but this doesn't mean that SwirlX does not remove swirls and micro-scratches. The recent testimonies on this forum prove otherwise. Of course, whether it is strong enough to remove the swirls and scratches of your particular vehicle is a different matter.

Do a test spot. That product IS NOT A FILLER. It uses the best, Meg's New Technology to remove swirls.

i have seen Swirl X in action and it removes swirls out of your paint, it dosent fill them in

Even talcum power is abrasive.So in that way of thinking, yes Swirl X is abrasive. Swirl X polishes not scours

Fantastic! Thanks guys for all the feedback. I guess I was comparing it to the products I have used before.
I usually do a spot test on a panel with any new product. I will take the advice on board and once I get the chance to test I will post my results.

Well just got done doing my little fix-up. Spent about 2.5hrs washing, drying, UQD, Engine Cleaning, Tires, etc... I then proceed to use Swirl X and Scratch X 2.0 on my rear bumper and hatch. LSP with NXT 2.0. Results?

It is not perfect, no, but its back to the "have to look to find the swirls" rather then "hey look at all those swirls!". Very happy with it. I also used some man power with SX2.0 to get out some deeper scratches. Very nice.

Product wise, SwirlX is very, very NICE. Long work time, excellent results.

Tuck, how about by hand? Aren't the swirls removed only if using a DAP? If hand applying Swirl-X, are the swirls still being removed or filled in?

Used correctly, all of our swirl and scratch removers remove swirls and scratches.

It's up to the person using the product to determine if they're using the correct product, that is if SwirlX isn't working fast enough or effectively enough, then we have more aggressive products.

How deep the swirls are will also be a HUGE factor as to which product will work best.

What amount of product should be put on the pad? I tried a test section on the hood, but I think I used too much or worked it to long... I had a haze (black metallic finsh). However, I did notice a reduction in the swirls!

You suggest applying this with the Soft Foam Applicator pads but I haven't been able to find them listed on your site for some time. Are they still available? And why do you suggest that applicator over the Microfiber?

I think they have been a little out of stock recently. Other stores should have them.
