  • colorx vs deep crystal

    Hi,

I have a black Acura TL that I want to do. Would it be better to use Deep crystal polish and deep crystal cleaner and finish with NXT polish or use the ColorX topped with the NTX?

    thanks

Just my opinion but.... I would do the Deep Crystal step 1 and 2 then NXT just my opinion. I am sure ColorX is a great cleaner/polish/wax but I think individual cleaners, polishes and waxes will give you better results than a single step product. As Mike has shown ColorX will do a great job but I think I would lean towrds the three steps.

Maybe someone can chime in here but is colorX more for a damaged paint?

i think it is also better to use the individual steps colour x is a three in one wax where as the 3 step system is all seperate.and you can then focus on each step individualy.and in my expereneces seperate steps versus all in one has always yeilded better results

This may sound ridiculous, but maybe you could use Color-X as a starter, (It might be a stronger cleaner than DCPC)...Then you could go with the other products.

That way, you get the benefits of both worlds.

It's always difficult to diagnose particular products for particular finishes without seeing them but, as a personal opinion, I'd definately go with the dual step process. As a general rule of thumb, I've found that dedicating an individual step/product to each aspect of paint care is essential to making a vehicle look and be protected at its best.

Color-X is a super product but, if you have the time to dedicate to each step, I'd go that route as I think it will be beneficial.

Another thing to remember is that both the Crystal Polish and Crystal Cleaner offer no protection. The NXT step that you've mentioned will be absolutely necessary to ensure that your vehicle's paint is protected. (side note: you could also utilize a great carnauba like step 3 of the 3-step Deep Crystal system however; the NXT should provide a more durable, longer lasting level of protection).

I've seen before and after photos of vehicles that utiliize the 3-step Deep Crystal system and they're nothing short of VERY impressive! I'd be anxious to see some before and after photographs of your work if possible

Thanks for visiting meguiarsonline.com and feel free to ask any additional questions that you may have!!

            Hi Frank,

I believe ColorX will actually have a stronger cleaning action than the Deep Crystal Cleaner. Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner is pretty mild paint cleaner while the ColorX is fairly aggressive. It would be a good comparison test that's for sure.

I think you would probably get pretty close results with either approach, because while the ColorX may do a better job of cleaning, there is something to be said for using a dedicated 3-step process. Just the act of pushing a foam applicator pad over the surface three times with three different Meguiar's products is going to give you excellent results.

The ColorX/Tech Wax would be faster however, since it's only two steps.

              Mike,

How would you rate ColorX as far as agressiveness against #9 or #82? Does it contain abrassive or chemical cleaners? If you could rate it's cleaning power with the same scale Meguiars uses for the professional line where would it be?

              Thanks

                colorx vs deep crystal

                Mike,

I am going to try the Deep Crystal step 1 & 2. I ordered it and the NXT wax and the Gold Class clear coat from Meguiars on line.
It is easier than going store to store here to try to find everything.
I am planning on putting a coat of Gold Class on the car and topping with NXT, time permitting. I am looking forward to trying this approach instead of the Klasse that I have been using.
                Thanks everyone for your help!!

What I had in mind was a 4 step process, if necessary...Just in case the DCPC wasn't a strong enough cleaner.

I've used MPPC with DCPC with good results.
