  • Help 99 Artic White Vette

I have a 1999 Artic White Corvette, 50K miles second owner, paint is in great shape, a few nicks etc.
Never had a whie car before, what do I need to do to make this baby shine ? NXT ? wax then polish ? Help!

I would clay first no matter what. Then depending on whether or not you have a PC try a product like #80 Speed Glaze. If you are working by hand you may try steps 1 and 2 in the DC system. Follow either of the procedures with 2 layers of NXT.

I just settled on system that I really like and have done three cars that have turned out well.

I wash with Megs NXT wash (2 bucket) then I clay the car. I then go over it with #9, two coats of NXT and your done. I do use Scratch X where it is needed after the clay process, but other than that nothing more.

I do the same thing. I only clay and #9 if it needs it.

Yes you are right, I guess I should have said that. Speaking of that, how often do you clay. I have only clayed the Stang once.

              Hi T's 99,

              Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

It's hard to get a lot of reflectivity out of white paint, but you can get a lot of gloss out of it. In order to increase gloss you simply need to insure the finish is as smooth as possible, and this would include everything mentioned above,
              • Wash
              • Clay
              • Clean the paint with a paint cleaner like ScratchX or Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, or use a cleaner/polish like the #9 Swirl Remover 2.0 which also has a cleaning effect.
              • Apply two thin coats of wax protection like the NXT Tech Wax

After that simply maintain the finish with regular washing using a car wash formulated for cars and products like Quik Detailer.

                Thanks, Mike
You read so much about wax etc its hard to figular out which ends up!
Then you add color, white vs black, oop's now thats a different deal again
