  • Aggressiveness scale

    Hi All

    Long time lurker, first post.

Just got myself a G220 (live in Australia) and am wanting to find out the relative aggressiveness of the various consumer products.

I can find listings for the MG and Professional range but not so for the consumer line. It seems quite difficult to find a lot of the MG stuff over here. There only seems to be the more aggressive stuff (for rotary) or the finishing products. I can't find the 151, 83 or 80 at my usual outlets.

    Thanks
    Bluey

Bluey 151 should be here by next week. 83 we can't get, apparently not enough demand! If you're looking for products you can use with your G220 on the Mirror Glaze range we have available 2, 3, 6, 7, 21, 26, 66, 80, 81 and the 7006 and 8006 pads. There a few more mirror Glaze product available but I've only listed products you could use with the G220. There's also a fair chunk of the Detailer line available here also. You can purchase them online at Car Care Products
I've listed the above link because you can't purchase these products OTC in Australia.
Bluey hope this helps and let me know if you need more info.
    Cheers

      Thanks Prof

I have had a look at the site, and it's good to know what is available.

My question was more in relation to the consumer line as I already have some of these, colorX, DC2 and Tech wax. I will put these, as well as the Mirror Glaze range, in the mix when looking at what I need next. It's always easier to find the consumer stuff at the local shopping centre.

Also, will we be getting any of the version 2 pads that can be washed?

I'll try and get an update and confirm if we're getting the new Soft Buff pads in our region and if it's the full range.
I'm not certain what levels of abrasiveness the consumer line is compared to Mirror Glaze, maybe Mike or another member with more experience handling both lines can kindly chime in and offer a comparison.

As far as swirl and scratch removing ability by machine, ColorX will be a little more aggressive than the Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner and about the same as ScratchX.

If you're working on a clear coat with swirls and scratches that you want to remove, then you really need to get something from our Professional Line.

That will be up to the distributor to bring them into their inventory.

            Thanks Mike

I'll be working on a number of different vehicles and will try the current products I have first. If I need more swirl removability I'll look at the professional line. I'll initially be starting with colorX on my son's faded finish before moving on to some light swirl removal on my car, which apparently has very soft paint, according to other Lexus drivers.

Seems we don't get 83 over here, but will be getting 151 shortly. Can 151 be used as a substitute for 83 or is it a completely different product?

I received a reply from our distributor, Motoractive, and at this stage they are looking into getting the new pads but can not confirm until December. So looks like we'll have to wait until them and hope they do decide to bring them in.

M83 is a cleaner/polish in our body shop line that was originally formulated for body shops on fresh paint but it works on all kinds of paint so it's not a product that's trapped into a single market.

D151 is a cleaner/wax for production detail shops, it works like a cleaner/polish except that it leaves some Carnauba wax protection behind on the surface.

Those are the primary differences and the answer to your question is "yes" you can use D151 in the same applications where you want a cleaner/polish as long as you're not working in a body shop on fresh paint.

                  Re: Aggressiveness scale

I'm in a similar boat, in that I have some consumer line products as well as some professional line products and I'd like to understand their relative agressiveness. Can you give me some idea of where the Deep Crystal® System Paint Cleaner falls in line on the aggressiveness scale of the the professional line products? I prefer to going incrementally more agressive rather than jumping right to something like M105 and want to make sure my next step is in the right direction.

                  Thanks-Shawn

                    Re: Aggressiveness scale

                    DC1 is very mild.

If it is your first time with a G100, #80 with a polishing pad would be a fine start.

                      Re: Aggressiveness scale

I've recently posted multiple posts on M105, maybe someone can look them up and quote them here?

M105 isn't like a harsh rubbing compound which is what some people imagine that haven't used it.

It's only as aggressive as you work it so if you want to be as effective as you can when removing swirls and scratches it's a great product.
