  • NXT Spray Wax Conclusion

I did a search on how to apply the spray wax properly. This is how I plan to do it.

After washing and drying the car I apply it at a shaded area.

I spray the foam applicator and apply it as thin as possible. I use a back and forth motion and give it time to haze. I do this for the whole car then I come back to buff it with my ultimate wipe.

Does that sound correct? How many times do I need to overlap the paint surface as I apply. Should I overlap?

    Hi fpalattao,

Yes, you have it correct, mostly. You don't have to apply using straight line motions. I myself, on our black Honda Pilot use circular motions. Meguiar's teaches that if the product you are using are non-abrasive, that is neither your application material, your product, or your removal material, are instilling scratches, then it doesn't and shouldn't matter which direction you move your hand.

I have a write-up with photo's showing how to apply the Spray Wax, but have not had time to post it. (It takes time to prepare the photos and add comments).

But basically, take a clean, foam applicator pad, mist some wax on to one side of the pad to moisten it with wax, and then apply like you would any wax covering the car with uniform, overlapping motions. You only need a thin coating. If you start at one corner of your car, and then go around the car till you end up where you started, you can then begin removing the wax following the path you applied it.

I tend to use two clean, Ultimate wipes, one in each hand.

    Good luck, and have fun.

Time and ease of use, (for me), above all, convenience.

I have found like many products, there are two camps when it comes to a Spray Wax, (our wax or any company's wax), those that like it and those that don't.

        I like it.

I can wash my Pilot, or my 73 Blazer, and quickly go over the entire car and then remove it and it looks like I just spent hours detailing the car. It is faster than applying a normal coat of wax once you have a little experience with the product and acquire a little technique from that experience.

For some people, they would prefer to apply a regular coat of wax. One of our forum members, Mosca, has said in the past that he can apply a normal coat of Tech Wax, (or any wax), and remove it just as fast as he could apply the Spray Wax. This is on a Miata. I would agree with him on that.

For the Pilot, I can definitely apply a coat of Spray Wax and remove it faster than I can a normal coat of Tech Wax, for me it's faster and the Pilot, with it's metallic blue flake, black paint comes out looking awesome!

        Two camps.

Here's my daughter spraying NXT Tech Wax onto a foam applicator pad,

Here she is applying the Spray Wax with the foam applicator pad,

If she can do this on black paint, anyone can do it.

Another method of applying a Meguiar's Spray wax is to apply it using a microfiber polishing cloth such as Meguiar's Ultimate Wipe. Here she is spraying NXT Tech Wax onto a clean, folded Ultimate Wipe, (With this technique, it works best to use the same side for the entire application process).

First she moistens one side of an Ultimate Wipe and then she can either spray some NXT Spray Wax onto the finish, or continue to spray some onto this same side of the Ultimate Wipe as she works her way around the Pilot.

After applying a thin coating of the NXT Spray Wax, she removes it using a fresh, clean, dry Ultimate Wipe,

It's quick and easy, but it takes applying and removing it a few times to become experienced and good at it. It was getting dark so I didn't get any after photo's but we have used this product so much since purchasing the Pilot that I can assure you, it always comes out looking great!

I have to wash the Pilot tonight, afterwards, I'll give it the NXT Spray Wax Treatment and take a photo of it the next day.

              That's your job!

Heather is a very good daughter, an awesome big sister and an all-around excellent helper around the house, a Varsity Cheerleader at her high school and an above average student. I couldn't ask for more.

I'll probably ask her to do some more articles in the future. This one came out pretty dark because the only safe time to wash the car here in the desert is early morning, or late evening, I chose the latter.

In fact, I just finished drying the Pilot after washing it and came in to check my e-mail and the forum, it's 8:21 pm right now and I was drying the car off in the dark!

My neighbors think I nuts too!

I guess the "Car Crazy" thing and neighbors thinking your Nuts go hand and hand. Oh well!

I just used NXT Spray Wax for the first time today. I used the foam applicator and microfiber towel procees as well. It really worked out great!
I did use Quick Detailer after I washed the car to get any residue off my truck before I used the Spray Wax. Being a beginner with this product, it probably took me a little longer than I expected. I did a section at a time rather than the whole truck at once. Hopefully, I will get faster as I use it more. I was a little set back at first by the residue it left(haze). It reminded me of cleaner wax from years ago. It did come off quite easily though. I may have used it more liberally than I should have. It was the first time, so live and learn.

I had that white powder residue the first time I used it too. The key is to apply very, very thin. Once I got the technique down it is a snap to use and the looks are great.

This past weekend some friends were making comments about their neighbor who is also "car crazy" one of them said "he washes his car every week and sometimes takes his rims off to clean them!" I was like "and what's the big deal? Sometimes I wash mine more often than that!"

Anyway, I have a small car (VW Corrado) so sometimes I use the wax & sometimes the spray. Both take about the same time, but the spray is nice if I want to do one panel *real* quick.
