  • Difference between NXT and NXT 2.0?

    Hi,

Was just wondering what the differences were between the NXT and the NXT 2.0.

As stated previously, I didn't really care for the 1.0 version, it seemed that #26 and Gold Class Wax gave a much better look - especially on black.

Just wondering what the "updated" version changed.

    Thanks!

Perfect timing! I just posted a side by side test of 1.0 vs 2.0 in another thread. Here are the pictures:

1" tape applied down center before any wax.
    NXT 1.0 on the Left
    NXT 2.0 on the Right

NXT 2.0 appears to have a deeper darker finish.

That is exactly what I would experience when I would put NXT 1.0 as a last coat over the clayed, cleaner waxed, show car glazed, hi-tech yellow waxed, and then Gold Class waxed black car - it looks like an exact pic I could have taken...

The entire car would look like the right side (the darker one) and after I put NXT 1.0 over it, it would look like the left side (the lighter one) - it would lose its deep color.

I saw the same years ago when using Gold Class liquid wax vs. the #26 high tech yellow paste. The yellow wasn't as shiny (on black) but was a lot deeper in color. I saved the Gold Class for light color cars and it looked great on them while the #26 was used on black, dark blue, and dark gray.

            Great comparison.

Actually if you look at the pictures, you can see his finger pointing to where the 1' strip of tape was.

It looks like to the left of the 1" strip of tape is almost the exact same color as to the right of the tape.

The paint under the 1" strip of tape is what looks to be the lighter color...

Yes, I am pointing at where the tape was. Yes, the black paint under the tape is lighter than both the left and the right of it, as it has no wax yet. It's hard to see for 2 reasons... the reflective gloss of the black paint, and the curve of the motorcycle gas tank.

However, the wax demarcation lines ran the full length of the tank - it was the curve that makes it look like they disappeared, but in reality, they did not.

If I were to describe the 'deepness' in terms of gray scale:
Under the 1" tape (no wax) is 0%
NXT 1.0 is approximately a 2-3% gray tint
NXT 2.0 is approximately an 8-10% gray tint.

Now, I am NOT saying that NXT makes anything look gray!!! It's just my attempt at explaining it. I hope that makes sense.

                    LOL, ok...

Does 2.0 make the paint look darker than 1.0?

Darker or Deeper or Richer - one could use any of those, but yup.

The way I used to explain it was that the gold class was "too shiny" for the black on the BMW where the yellow wasn't quite as shiny, but deeper.

It's like when you are looking at water. If the top is too shiny, you only see the top and not the depth of the color. When you take a little shine away, you get to see how deep it is. That's how I explain it anyway

If you read the labels NXT 1.0 said it eliminated swirls, NXT 2.0 says it Visually eliminates swirls, does that mean 1.0 actually removed the swirls and 2.0 just fills them?

No, the word visually was added for more clarification.
