  • Thinking of trying # 7

    i am thinking of using # 7 .

    2 Questions come to mind.

    1. Is it necessary to strip off my already applied Gold Class ?

    2. Once # 7 has been applied,is it necessary to top coat with another layer of Gold Class?

    TIA

No, you can top #7 to Gold Class Wax

Well you don't have to but I recommend it,remember that #7 is a pure polish, and what it would do is to add "beauty" to your paint but it's not a product that would last months so toping #7 with your wax will force or protect the oils that you've added to the paint to last longer

Welcome to MOL, you will be very happy with the results #7 brings but unfortunately you will have to strip the wax down if you want to get the most out of this product. Well you don't have to but if you apply this product over the wax it will not last long at all. The main purpose of this pure polish is to replenish the paint with essential oil and give it a nice wet look shine. Once you have worked in the polish and removed it you will want to seal it in with a good quality wax like GC or one my favorites NXT 2.0 or the same thing will happen and the polish will not last. When polishing keep in mind to apply in thin coats and work in small sections about 12" X 12". Don't let the product dry, just simply work it in and remove. Also remember to work in the shade and on a cool surface.

Technically the correct way to use a pure polish is before applying any wax or any type of paint sealant as these types of products if they're working are leaving behind a layer of protection ingredients on the surface thus the polish isn't working against the paint but instead this layer of wax or paint sealant.

That said just the act of moving an oily substance like our pure polishes over the surface with some kind of application material, (foam, microfiber, cotton), by hand or machine will have a cleaning and polishing effect to some level and in essence remove some, most or most all of any wax or other protection ingredients already on the surface.

Wipe off may be a tad more difficult if the wax is still on the paint but shouldn't be a problem if you're only working a small section at at time and then removing the polish as you move from section to section.

In a perfect world you would remove the wax first and then apply the polish and the re-apply the wax.

This would involve doing 3 steps. To remove the wax you could rub it down with a paint cleaner or a cleaner/polish, for example you could use Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner or ScratchX or a light cleaner/polish like M82 or M09

M09 is a light cleaner/polish with a lot of the polishing oils found in the M07 and if your car's paint is in great shape to start with you're pretty much get the same visual end-results with the #9 as you would the #7

Re: Thinking of trying # 7

I really like the #7. About one month ago, I did the following to my car:
I clayed and followed with DC1 paint cleaner so I would have a perfectly clean and wax free surface. Then, I applied #7 and topped it of with one coat of NXT 2.0. The next day after wiping off the car with UQD, I applied a second coat of NXT 2.0. It looked great. I wished I had taken some pictures.
