Detailers CANT GET IT OUT

    Thanks for the input, I see your point. Guess I have to get it resprayed.

    So to raise another question, will a solid black be a better option as the body shop is saying? and Pros and Cons?

    If you having clear coat issues then Opti-coat will not help. A person had an issues with not having clear coat on a panel and he gave opti-coat a try and while it looked good for a week or two the oxidation started to come back after that.

    there is no such thing as sun bleaching or oxidization on todays modern paint.
    Your CC has failed.
    There is nothing you can do but repaint it.

    Went by the body shop, the amount to get it resprayed is out of the question, he suggested this time he use a solid black and that should be more durable.

    So another question, lets say i polish the car again and use a permanent sealer like opticoat, would this give me protection from spots and oxidation returning.     Thanks for the response, think it is the clear because I pretty sure i took off enough material, checked it with a inspection light and there was no signs of it. Going back to the body work shop and seeing what they have to say about it.

    If the oxidation ("sun bleaching") is returning after only two days, you likely have an issue with your clear coat.

    Exposure to the harsh elements, unprotected, for long periods could cause this to happen.

    Hey Guys

    Been a while since I've posted, once again reviving this old thread. Recently I had my car parked for a bit and it got some sun bleaching, it was pretty bad but i was pretty confident i could fix it. So i set off with my favorite products and took two days getting it off. Clay, Compound, Polish and wax.





    As you can tell from the next picture, i did an awesome job







    and once completed i had the car looking show room fresh yet again





    Here's the question. Its been in the elements for only 2 days now, and the sun bleaching is already returning which is crazy, also got some water spots on the hood within the same time, I'm pretty sure that's not normal, is it a case of me doing something wrong (keep in mind i did wax) or is it the case that the clear coat is "soft" it has been the case that swirls and bird droppings seem to be extremely easily etched into the paint.

    Any help is appreciated

    This may be the oldest thread that the original poster revived on his own!!

    The car looks great in this picture, but we certainly understand that some holograms can be present in a new paint job. M80 is perfectly safe to use on the paint at this point, and should be effective at removing any fine marring created by the body shop buffing process. Just make sure to have some upgraded towels from those you used back in 2008 when this thread started!!

    updating a very old thread, this was the result of all my manual labour with this car





    Was very pleased with the results and only use meguairs products now. Did a engine transplant on the car which left it in the sun for about a year after this picture was taken. Recently I got it resprayed by a different body shop but still got some fine swirls and holograms back in the new paint now. Figure its from poor buffing techniques, dirty pads or what have you. My question is since the paint is new'ish (about 1 month old) what products should i use to get rid of these. (Will post pictures soon) also have some bird etchings that ill take a pic of as well. We don't have a full catalog of products on my island but i have a shipment coming in two weeks so I can get them online.

    i gave up on the detailers and did it myself.


    ScratchX did a good job on the swirls but took alot of effort so i did it one section at a time.

    Next for the holograms i Used M82 which also worked well and removed all the holograms.

    Lastly i used Gold Class Liquid Wax which filled the swirls that werent covered before.

    I now wash the car and every now and again give it a quick application of the Ultimate quick detailers spray.

    One person told me that the wax would last longer if i wash the car without any soap. i been using Turtle Wax ( the blue stuff) which works well.

    We agree, actually looks like a well worked application of ScratchX could fix it but this would mean doing small sections at a time, working your way around the car each new section a little into the previous section.

    We're going to guess your detailer that did the work so far is using a rotary buffer and wool pad, either a cutting pad or a finishing pad and this is part of the problem.

    See if you can find a different detailer that is proficient with a rotary buffer and is doing their finishing work with foam pads.

    Better yet, see about getting our G220 into your hands and do it yourself.

    What voltage is your Island's electrical system?

    that looks like something 83 and 80 should be able to fix with no problem..... my guess is your detailer is not good.... and that you are not working the 83/80 enough....use 8006 pad at speed 5..... remember to apply pressure.... about 20lbs..... and move slowly.... 1 or 2 quick passes isnt going to fix anything.....
