  • Nxt directions?

    Hello,
I have a few questions regarding the NXT. I currently use the Meguiar's Cleaner wax paste. Then I heard about then NXT. I was wondering if I wanted to use the NXT, a lot of people are using a polish compound first( I have never used a polish before), but my car is 11 years old black car and I don’t want to use a harsh compound or it might take off a lot of paint. A few parts of my car is peeling, I think its the clear coat? Ill try to show you pictures later. Anyways, I was wondering if I can use the NXT after I wash my car or do I need to use a polish before I use the NXT. Also if I need to use a polish is the cleaner wax ok to use in place of the polish? I have had good luck with the cleaner wax, im scared that the polish will take to much paint off my car. Sorry if these are some beginner questions, im just drooling over the results that I see from the NXT.
    Thanks for the help

If you are happy with Meguiars Cleaner/wax than stay with it and just top it with NXT Tech Wax. Tech Wax can be applied over the Cleaner Wax.

Welcome to meguiarsonline Ray! We're glad to have you aboard!

If you're already happy with the results that you're obtaining with your cleaner wax (which, by the way, is one of the best products in the entire Meguiar's family in my opinion) then I'd keep utilizing it. As was mentioned previously in this thread, there's nothing to keep you from topping your cleaner waxed surfaces with NXT as they are very compatible together plus, I think you'll be thrilled with the longevity and durability of the combo!

Give it a try and let us know how you like it.

I would have to agree about the cleaner wax. I have used it many times as well as #6. Don't think I have ever be let down by it. But if you do top it with the NXT it will give you a much deeper looking shine add as RP said it won't dissapoint! I think that is where a dedicate wax product (NXT) can really stand out and give great results not possible with a cleaner/wax combo alone.

I agree, thats a great cleaner wax and i think topped with nxt your car will look great. My car is black and i use the deep crystal paint cleaner, #7 show glaze [polish] and then the nxt. the finish is outstanding. I use the #7 cuz i already had it but the deep crystal polish is very good as well.

              Hi Ray...Welcome to MOL!

I would use a pure polish like denetc posted above.

A pure polish will ensure that your paint is replenished with the necessary oils to help it last longer...Plus you can top it with NXT too.

If i use a polish does it take alot of paint off? Im not familiar with polish and i dont know if my paint will hold up to a polish? Also how do you put two coats of nxt on? one after the other or i heard someone waiting a day then putting the second coat on?
                Thanks

I would also highly recommend that you stay with your Cleaner Wax and just top it off with the new NXT. There is really no need for you to use a pure polish. I have used the combo of Cleaner Wax topped with NXT with very good results, especially on black vehicles.

The word "polish" is kind of confusing today as every manufacturer out there seems to use the term differently. Meguiars has two kinds of polishes. First there are the "pure polishes" like #7 show car glaze which do not contain any abrassives or cleaners and then you have "cleaner polishes" like #83 dual action cleaner polish which contains abrassives.

What others are suggesting is a product like #7 to create a high gloss before you apply NXT.

I usually do two coats of NXT myself to ensure complete and even coverage. For best results I would wait about 24 hours after the fist coat before putting on another.

Meguiar's pure polishes will not harm the paint....If it were my car, I wouldn't hesitate to use any of these 3 choices.

                      Deep Crystal #2

#7 Show Car Glaze...This can be purchased in 16oz size too.

                      #81 Hand Polish

These polishes will help to preserve your paint, as well as adding more gloss...But if your clear coat is starting to peel, then you are going to have to have these areas painted eventually.

                        RUSTYBUMPER,

How does the DC Polish compare to #7 or 81?

That is a good question!...Unfortunately, I have never used this product yet.

All I can say about it, is that DC #2 is formulated for darker finishes, but it works well on lighter paint too.

Since this thread is about polishes, I thought I would post a link to anyone who wants to know more about it....There is mention about DC #2 on down in the article.

                          Here it is: http://www.showcargarage.com/forum/s...?s=&threadid=2

I think this is a must read for anyone using Meguiar's polishes.

Any of the consumer line products like the Deep Crystal system are designed to be used by hand or orbital polisher so you will be fine using DC #2 by hand.
