  • Hyper-Dressing Usage

I applied Hyoer-Dressing on my Tires cleaned with NXT Tire Cleaner and Scrubbed w/ the Versa Angle Tire Brush 2 days ago.

I applied the HD with an Eagle One Tire Swipe. Since then, we have have had 2 days of moderate rains, heavy at times. I have put about 30 miles on the truck in these 2 days.

Anywho, I was just noticing that the HD is now all gone. Tires look totally untreated.

This is my first attempt at using the product and was curious as to whether or not this is to be expected.

Also, is there a method of application I could switch to that might yeild better results?

I am not sure what dillution it is because it is the sample bottle I got from ADS, and it was not marked as to what dillution rate was used, if any at all.

editing here: I should have put this in the Detailer Line thread. SRI

    Hi Jeff,

Hyper-Dressing is a water-based dressing, so it's not going to last as long as a solvent-based dressing. Here's some information on this product.

    Hyper-Dressing

Until now, the industry average for diluting water based dressings has been one to one or ready-to-use. Meguiar's Hyper-Dressing dilutes up to four to one, varying the gloss from high to satin. One product, multiple uses...a winning combination for every professional and an industry first.

    D-17001 1 gallon
    D-17005 5 gallon

    1:1 High Gloss
    2:1 Medium Gloss
    3:1 Satin Finish
    4:1 Natural Shine

Recommended replacement for W-Dressing and Engine Kote.

Hmmm, Lesson Learned there. I guess I'll continue to use it until it's gone. I'll try to find some other uses for it. I don't think I am going to like it for the tires.

I also saw some streaking on my paint from where the rain had evidently washed it off of some of the rubber & plastic trim I had tried it on. A quick QD removed it so no biggie.

I have a feeling I will be trying some of the other choices though. I guess this would be good for a garaged, weekend type vehicle but for an ungaraged daily driver I am thinking there are better choices. I might try the ASD next and see if that holds up better.

Will probably do fine for me for the Enigine Compartment and some interior stuff. I still have plenty of other stuff in house to try on my tires. I need to get more than a couple of days out of a product on those.

I put HD on one tire and didn't like the way it looked, so I just covered it up with my normal dressing. I do love the look it provided in my wheel wells, engine compartment, and black trim. Also, I have an '05 Tacoma that has a composite (plastic) bed, and I dressed the bed with it. It worked really well and it still looks the same as when I did it Sunday. I am almost positive that your Ridgeline has a similar composite bed, right? Maybe you should try dressing your bed as well. Of course, if you carry lots of stuff you probably won't want to do that. I carry loads once in a great while, so I just misted it lightly over the entire bed and let it set. It turned out great!

As Mike pointed out, it is water based. My paint is a very bright white. I can deal with it washing off but it does leave a tail. In other words, take for example. My composite bed actually comes up and lips over the side of the truck. I dressed this out with HD as well. The rain washed the product off and under certain lighting conditions I noticed streak marks, or trails where the product ran down the sides and tailgate. So I don't think I'll be using it too much externally. Maybe the wheel wells and running boards, but nothing with white paint below it. And if I dressed the bed the water would run out under the tailgate and down my white bumper. No good there either. I did use the Exterior Trim Detailer to dress the bed last week and I did not seem to notice these marks on the bumper so I think I found a good product for that.

If you want to use a dressing from the detailer line that lasts you might want to try All Season Dressing as I believe this is not water based - I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong though.

I am sure you are correct. I wished it dawned on me that it was water based before buying though. I had my hopes up that this "would be the one". No big big deal I am sure the ASD will give me what I want.

I get alot of comments on my tires. I had been using Insane Shine up till recently. The first question people ask is how long does it last. I don't want to say "Till it rains".

I am sure I'll find plenty of uses for it. I have a couple bottle of Endurance left to use up so I'll do that before getting the ADS. Looking forward to trying that out as well.

All Season works best on external tires/vinyl etc.

Hyperdressing works WONDERS on engine bays.

                good luck

                  Jeff -

if youre looking for longevity in your tyre dressing I would try MEg's endurance gel (the purple stuff). It's not part of their detailer line but from personal experience i can tell you it has real staying power.

I apply it with a foam applicator. I scrub my tires down with those "do it yourself" coin op car wash brushes and it still doesnt come off. best part is that medium size bottle lasts forever.

                  good luck

Yep, already have a bottle of that in the trunk. Have not tried it yet as I wanted to try the Hyper-Dressing first. I am still playing with the HD though. Applied it again today. I'll probably play with it long enough to gain some experience with it and then switch over. Thanks

I did my wheel wheels up with the HD today. This was my first attempt with it. I have one of the black spray nozzles and could not get a mist out of it. I was under the impression one could spray on and walk away. Thankfully I had some old terrys with me so I just took one and smoothed it out. The sprayer did not do a good job of applying it very evenly. Lots of little white droplets everywhere
