  • M81 Professional Hand Polish

I bought my bottle of M81 a few years ago when I was buying all sorts sorts of supplies that I didn't need and would probably never use. I bought it after using #7 a couple of times on my black S2K. The stuff was not perhaps the easiest polish to apply. There was a definite learning curve. But more importantly, I honestly could not tell whether it added anything to the finish. I think I saw a difference but simply was not sure. Then for some reason I picked up a bottle of M81, put it on my shelf an then promptly forgot about.

I thought about it was week as I was doing my spring detail. After all the polishing, the plan was to apply a coat of Swissvax "Best of Show." Well, as long as I was going to use a carnauba wax, why not preceded it with some M81.

I still could not tell if the M81 really improved the wetness of the look or not. I like to think it did. But I can say it was much, much easier to use than #7.

One can occasionally find M81 out on the internet. I think Detailing Solutions has one bottle left. If you are intrigued by the pure polish challenge and you can find a rare bottle, you may want to give this product a try. I'll probably keep using it once a year, not because it dramatically improves the look, but simply because I have the stuff and feel like I need to use it. Heck, I still have a bottle of M09 I haven't used it, too. And my bottle of M80 is 95% full. What to do with all these old products?

If you have the room, just hang on to them. Kinda fun to look back on them in years gone by.

I've seen collections (and collectors) of various 'waxes' on some of the forums. Maybe ask around if anyone would like to add them to their collection.
