  • wash after polishing?

hey guys i just bought four bottles of #7 and 5 bottles of #26...(i bought autozone out, even what they had in the back including mf's lol...i can't beilieve they even carried the pro stuff) anyways the guy that got it from the back told me that he was told you had to wash your car after you buff it....? any truth to that? didnt say so on the bottle...? anyways im putting it on with a 7424 and some lc pads that came with. (if that matters) thanks

ps whats the pro line replacement for scratch-x that little bottle was gone before i was done with half the car lol.

No, dont wash your car after polishing. You will just wash the oils right off, they are not durable like a wax or other polymer.

There is no direct equivelant to ScratchX in the pro-line. #80 and #83 would tend to be the products to use by DA, and I believe one of the new products (M-108??) is showing some promise by hand( though intended for rotary use).

Both #80 and #83 (and pretty much everything else as far as cleaners) has diminishing abrasives in it. Just that different products have different types I suppose.

#83 is going to be the stronger cleaner of the two, #80 would be milder.

If you are going to wax the car right after polishing, I see no reason to wash it. If you are going to wax the next day, it's always a good idea to QD the car to remove any dust that may have settled. #7 is a pure polish and the act of washing is going to remove some of the oils from the paint that you just worked so hard at applying. Looks like you have quite a few years of polish and wax! What color is your car? #7 followed by #26 is a great combo on dark colored paint. Makes my black L look better than new....it's a

It's possible he was talking about washing you car after some serious buffing. For example, I will sometimes wash a car if I've used some heavy cut compound with a rotary...or just times when the car is VERY dusty. For a pure polish or wax you would not want to wash though...as stated above.

ive got a black trailblazer ss....but i detail on the side and that product is only intended for my clients with darker colored car...(as i charge them more lol) i used to do only washes and stuff but im getting more and more into complete paint rejuvenation and its making me good money!..what do you think about topping the 26 with 2.0 or vice versa? or will it be ok just to use it by itself?

That's probably not a good idea....Meguiars chemist know what they are doing. If they thought mixing the two was a good idea it would have already been done.

lol i know i was jk. do they have any waxes that contain both synthetic and natural polymers and sealants...its a proven fact that the two together work better than either individually. (like some metals that use steel with man made additives.)get what im saying?

Though I haven't tried this, I have seen many posts on here and the "other" forum that #7 followed by NXT and then #26 is the ultimate combo for dark colors.

im gonna do clay dc 1, 80, 7w/da, 21 topped with 26. i found another thread where mike in orange said 26 over 21 worked good. ill do a split on the hood and see what i think....i assume the 26 on top would give it a little better duralbility
