  • getting started on the Rv

From researching on the forum, I think I'm ready to get started. I have an '04 gel coated fifth wheel (Newmar). It has been waxed semi annually and I would describe it as mildly to medium oxidized. The plan... using a G110v2 polisher and #49, follow with #45 polish and then wax with the Flagship Premium marine wax. Any comments on this?
I'm still a little unclear on what pads to use with what. Thanks for any tips.

It would be a polishing pad if possible, cutting pad if needed.

Your plan sounds excellent. We'd recommend starting with the W8207 polishing pad, as Murr suggested, and doing a test spot first. If you need to move up to the W7207 cutting pad then by all means do so. You will want more than one pad, however, as a single pad will load up with product and that will start to compromise its ability to cut uniformly through the whole job. You should be using speed 5 on the DA and moderate pressure, if not a bit more. As long as the pad is rotating you're fine. It won't necessarily be spinning quickly, but it should be turning. When you move to the M45 step down to a W9207 finishing pad, and then a fresh W9207 pad for the Flagship Premium Marine Wax. A single pad should get the job done for waxing, and as long as you don't go heavy with the M45 a single pad should be fine there, too.

Thanks for the tips. I was very unsure on the pads. I'll post a follow up. Can't wait to get started.

Sometimes I have gotten better results going straight to wax after M49 Oxidation Remover.

I get best results cleaning the pad after each application of product if there is oxidation. Hold a towel against the pad and let it spin, moving the towel back and forth. This will clean the oxidation build up off the pad and let you get more miles out of it. I have best results starting with the maroon cutting pad since gelcoat is tough stuff.
