Teak is the type of wood commonly used on sail boats for trim pieces, decorative pieces, etc. It's also used on the tonneau cover of the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.

Teak is an extremely dense, heavy, strong, hardwood from Southeast Asia. They use it on boats a lot because it's very resistant to rot and has a naturally "non-slip" type of texture. I don't think most people even use much, if any stain or sealant. It stands up to the sun pretty well also. Along with boats (and some high-end cars), it's used a lot in outdoor furniture. I don't see many people using it as decking or flooring though, mostly because (I think) it's too expensive, but I would they probably use for everything where it's native because they don't have to worry about the extra shipping costs.

It is very common for the teak trim on boats to be regularly oiled rather than stained or varnished. This product is designed for that teak surface and should be followed with our Teak Oil to prevent the wood from drying out.
