  • Getting the best shine on a boat.

Here is a boat we did recently. It took us two days of cleaning and compounding to get the shine back. This is the process I used to get that deep of a shine:

    1. Used Meguiars One Step Compound #67 with a pc on 5
    2. Then used Meguiars Marine Polish - I have none better and it really kicks up the shine. I did two coats of the polish to deepen the shine.
    3. Then I topped it all off with Meguiars Marine grade wax.

Everyone talks about the shine they get on cars so I thought I would show everyone what you can get on a boat.

    Looks good!

Hope you don't mind, I enlarged your photo so we could all admire the shine...

Pad selection for PC and #67

I have a 53' Carver that I'm wheeling out this winter. I have been using a rotary buffer with a wool pad and #67. Great results but a ton of work. #67 is a vast improvement over #49, much quicker and better shine.

You mentioned good results with #67 and a random orbit machine. What kind of pad were you using? I've tried yellow foam cutting pads but don't feel like I'm getting the results I want.
