  • oxidation and product questions

I am trying to get a 98 Winnie sparkling again. The white fiberglass
is heavily oxidized...well, I have used some cutting cream and your
oxidation remover product and it's helped tremendously. However, the
white body still won't match the perfect white where they removed the
old vinyl decals (it was a commercially used rv).

I see there is a 'mirror glaze' speed cut and a ultra cut.......

I'm new to all this so please accept my apologies for my ignorance.
My father is president of a Winnebago club and several of them are
learning from me so I'll be spreading the Meguiars word

I'm putting new, custom vinyl decals on. I want to get the white as
clean/bright as possible and then I don't know what I should buff on
prior to wax. At the wax stage, I found a product called Vertglas that supposedly is better then wax, but I'm curious whether Meguiar's has a long lasting sealant/wax. Sorry for all the questions......

    Any guidance is appreciated!

Usually when you remove graphics from a car or anything else, that have been on the surface for a while you'll run into two problems,

    1. Imprint or Impression embedded into the surface.
    2. Fading or color change between the two areas.

Sounds like you have the 2nd problem and maybe the 1st problem if you look at the surface real carefully.

Outside of compounding the area, and possibly wet-sanding and then compounding the area, if neither of these two procedures work then you could be out of luck with any companies compounds, polishes and waxes.

You could order our new Power Cut Compound and see if this cuts through the layer of gel-coat that doesn't match but you need to find out how thick this coating is that you're working on so you have some idea as to how much material you can buff off. Can you find out from the manufacture how thick the gel-coat is?

If you can't you can always just be real careful and go for it. Best thing to do would be to do a test spot, that is just buff on area next to where the graphics used to be and see if you can get an even appearance by buffing the area more, (besides what you've already done).

Just keep in mind there is a limited thickness you have to work with, so you can't just buff and buff and buff and buff etc.

Like we mentioned, sometimes these kinds of defects just can't be fixed but it's always a good idea to at least try. After compounding the area, whether you fix the problem or not you 'll need to buff each square inch with something less aggressive than a compound to restore full color and gloss, for this you should try our M03 Machine Glaze.

After that you can apply a paint sealant to seal the surface, Meguiar's Flagship Premium Marine Wax would be our recommendation.

Thanks! I will contact Winnebago about the thickness of the gelcoat.

I see that the Power Cut 91 isn't for sale online yet.....any projected release date or do we just need to keep checking???

I'll post pictures after my project is over....hopefully, the products will finish what I've started.

Have tried to do the samething. Removed the sticker off the back door of a toyhauler that was a year old, the fade was already there. Did wet sand, heavy duty compound, polished and waxed. Still no match. The back door did shine like a mirror though. Would like to know though if you use the PC91 and if it worked.

Haven't heard anything about how soon the new Marine products will become available to order, the priority is probably on Consumer and Professional right now, followed by Marine.

          Keep checking here,
