  • Deep Crystal #1 on a boat?

I have the other Marine Line products but I am impressed with the Deep Crystal #1 Paint Cleaner that I used on my truck last night. I decided to do a small section on the boat and wow, it looks very tasty. So can I use this product on the boat or will it damage the fiberglass gel coat? If I can use this product, I just want to use this product first and follow with marine polish and then marine wax? I have the oxidation remover but I think the Paint remover works better on my boat for some reason. So will all that work?
    Thanks,
    Jacob

Well, Gel Coats tend to be harder than regular paint coats, so even though it can be used, it may not give the same results. But, for removing surface dirt, it might be able to. Just have to do a test spot.

Yes, I tried it on a small area and it worked great. I have used the oxidation remover and polish the marine versions. The oxidation remover works okay but I like the paint cleaner better. Then I would follow it up with the marine polish and marine wax. So it should be fine to use the paint cleaner?

Re: Deep Crystal #1 on a boat?

Although I am surprised by the results you have described, there is no problem with using Deep Crystal Step #1 Paint Cleaner on your boat. Murr1525 is correct. Gel Coats are much harder and thicker than automotive paint finishes. The Cleaners in our Boat/RV line are stronger and more effective on gel coats and fiberglass surfaces. That being said, the rule of thumb is "You can use automotive products on boats, but you do not want to use boat products on your car."

This is Meguiar's stance on the issue, but if you find good results using Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner on your boat then go for it.
