Drifting (motorsport) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drifting_(motorsport)Drifting is a driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels, while maintaining control from entry to exit of a .............FILL IN THE BLANKS

picture illustration from Toyo Drift Series round 2

Drifting is a style of racing that was born on the mountain roads of Japan in the 1990s. Learn about drifting and find out how drift racing....AKA SKIDDING

    Just imagine this

Marring or holograms, which are lines of swirl marks inflicted by poor machine polishing attempts.......

    illustrations purposes

causes a 'hologram' effect in paintwork by untrained hands

Now in the right angle direct sunlight you can see marring or hollograms along B panels

Holograms aka Micro Marring is caused by several things, the most common being poor in sanitation (cleanliness), wrong technique speed applied just like drifting on the paint work with 50 revs persecond at Makita speed 6 causes micro-marring which is swirls aka holograms inflected by the polishing

also paintshops can leave bad swirls and marring when machine polishing, with the wrong techniques and improper pads and products - where most of them good and spraying so much so, forgetting the elements of paint is still paint - soft & easily abrade

now ....a hot hatch became hot hatched...........................................................

With the sun there are huge marring and holograms remaining

    mmmmm

    residues TOGWT

    more

u dont need to be Sherlock Holmes

open up your eyes will do...look at the amount of product left

                Wow nice job.
I am sure I am guilty of leaving behind residue or not noticing in my earlier days. Whats the best way you've found to remove stuff like that? IPA and Qtip?

                        not to worry

given time you will get use to it.....

1 try to use adequate products...sparingly if I can say.....
2 be extra light and easy when come to cracks and jams area....swift and carefully passing through
3 taping is a good way to begin with...
4 I use to ask my wife to be my second pair of eyes.....last touch...inevitable....i use alot of it to to clean up

5 time ...you will definitely get use to...walk a few rounds..give attention to detail.....

a little patience and lots of passion

remember have fun ....doing what you like...and best of what you can...will makes a different

KC, we love the analogy with drifting for holograms in paint - brilliant!!!

For those of you asking how to remove excess product from cracks and crevices, usually a bit of quick detailer and a soft toothbrush will do the job. The hard part is when heavy residue is left on textured black plastic trim. That usually requires something like M39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner, a good all purpose cleaner, or sometimes even vegetable oil along with that tooth brush.
