  • Zero2Hero Auto Detailing™: Honda City Gracious Beige correction!

Last week my business card printer gave me a call and set an appointment for a detailing job to be done to her daily ride.

So i went down, diagnose the car and set the appointment date.

The day came, and this time i started abit late.

    Today's prescription,
    ONR NO Rinse wash
    Meg's Gold Class wash
    PG's detailing Claybar
    Meg's M105 cutting compound
    Optimum Hyper polish
    Optimum quick wax
    Optimum power clean
    Meg's Ultimate quick detailer
    Tools:
    LC's yellow cutting pad
    LC's white polishing pad
Brushes, and lots of MF towels

In Malaysia, it is a very common trend that when you purchase a 2nd hand used car, the car dealers normally respray a coat of clear coat to make the car paint look "New" overtime, rain, acid rain, sun, and not good paint jobs, the paint started to bubble up and eventually....pops and there u have, a brand new hole on ur front hood.

tadaaaa free hole from mother nature and a irresponsible shortcut car dealer

not only the dealers is responsible for these kind of damage...the owner also doesnt take care of the car...
dear car, how would u like some...."tree sap"

    overview of a washed car...

over here in malaysia, we have rm4 washes, or USD1.50 washes which they spray acid onto rims to clean the brake dust... in result..

    After...

    unknown stain...

without ONR no rinse wash, with Meg's gold class wash

now swirls all over the car like spider webs..

Then i started with M105 with 3 puff of ONR 1:8 as some moisturizing as the weather was very dry...

i found out this technique gives me abit more working time and does not affect the performance of the M105 cutting compound..

    before..

    After...

    sheer clarify from beige paint

    no more swirls

amazingly i just did a 1 pass on yellow cutting pad with M105 and all was almost flawless!

before if u remember there is a tree sap strain...
    now...

    how i did it?
1500grid sand paper, hand buff off with M105 then 1 pass with LC yellow cutting pad. tadaaaa magic!

    swirls on the taillights...

    regain gloss

then after fully compounding the car, i moved to polishing and wax and uqd. wipe n walk away
some particular shots of damages cleareed.

now here we go, beige reflection!

    curvesssss

    here ends my work...
    artistics shots before i close.

    Regards,
    Josh/s1tl/1st

Very nice restoration, Josh. The owner has a like-new car now.

I've never heard about extra clear coat layer for a new car owner. But of course you have very hot and humid climate in Malaysia so you need extra protection.

I'm gonna try 3 puffs of ONR 1:8 with M105 to extend the buffing cycle. I have a good feeling about it.

Nice work, indeed. The way dealerships are in the US I can only imagine some of the mess they make by adding clear coat on a used car. I don't want my dealership washing my car, much less spraying it after questionable prep work.

      Lucky customer.

its not because of the hot weather, its becoz car dealers are cautios about letting the buyer know about the defects of the car, so, just make it look like a new car by adding a "clear coat" not a good detailing job instead...

yea 3 puffs of ONR seems to work fine for me. but i heard some people use baby lotion??

i wouldnt say lucky...a detailed up ride is much better than the shortcut of spraying clear coat on it... but anyway thankks for the compliments..

I see. And then you have to fix everything and make it look like new again.
