Hey Nick, big fan here. How hard would you say the clear coat is on BMW?
Man, that's a tough question. I think it varies by the years. But overall I'd say they are tougher than normal. Not as hard as a Vette or Viper, but they aren't "soft" either.

Sure thing, Meg's old style yellow pad, and I always keep it right around speed 5. This has been some time ago so I don't remember exactly what speed, but I'm gonna say 5
PRC151 is a real keeper when used for quick jobs like this. It does an excellent job at removing light scratches and paint transfers, plus provides a very decent shine. Obviously the paint isn't perfect, but for a quicky job I think it looks pretty darn good
Thanks, dreamps! My bad for not reading all the posts. I got 151 in my sample kit, never even tried it yet. I'm going to have to consider that one for my Explorer.
Let me just say that this is NOT a replacement for polishing your paint. I use this merely when I have a customer that doesn't want to pay full price for a buff, but would like it in a bit better condition. If you're looking for total swirl/scratch removal, this isn't going to make you happy.
Just an FYI

thanks NIck, I have a daily driver Jeep that is black lolol
i know it will never be swirl free all the time bc it is also parked out side 24/7... i plan on polishing it 1x a year (hopefully 205 and UC don't really want to use 105 if i don't have to) and then maintain it in the fall with the PRC. This was my plan of attack...
Now if I ever get a different car/truck then that one get garaged

Thanks for pointing this out, Nick. D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream was never designed to be a concours prep product, but rather an effective all in one geared toward high volume reconditioning facilities that value speed over absolute quality.

Remember, this hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need therapy.
On a job like this, how many pads are you going through? . Not type of pads varying my cutting ability, but actually how many yellow pads? I am worried about starting a job and caking up my two pads half way through (even though I'll quick clean them as I go) and being stuck. L(

Nice job!
As a rule, I would say to have about 4 W8*** series polishing pads for a job whenworking on a mid-size sedan such as the BMW. When correcting paint, it is important to clean your pad often and change your pad when it becomes saturated with product in order to maintain effective cutting power.
When using an LSP and a W9*** series finishing pad, changing your pad is not as important because the oad is only being used to spread around the product. This can also be applied when using M07, M05, or M03 by DA. The pad is only being used to spread out and work the product into the paint; no cutting required.
