  • Polished Exhaust - CLEAN

    Hey Meguiars family!

I haven't posted up in awhile despite the busy summer business but I couldn't resist posing this metal polish work I did recently.

I've "dabbled" in metal restoration but nothing serious so decided to jump on the chance to clean up an old exhaust that I wanted to sell. I had read on the forums that you needed steel wool, metal polish, elbow grease and applied those three:

Oh and just for S's & G's here is a pic of the Camero I worked on over the weekend:

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Thanks for the warm welcome back yalerd! My summer supply has run out so I'm sure I'll be back on the forums with no supplies to detail with. heh

Hey Michael! I was hoping to see a post from you. I never did get those shelves installed. I went with a stand up shelf instead since my lease ended. Will be installing shelves in the new apartment garage next week however.

I'd like to think so. I ended up doing a 24 hour turn around. Got a guy driving up from Houston to pick it up.

Well done but I have a question...

I have always been a bit concerned that a product like steel wool would instill severe swirling or scratches on metal, yet yours came out perfect.

Can you tell us if there was any scratching we can't see int he pics?

In the past, when I've done my exhaust tips, I've clayed and then polished with the same product you used, which seems to get the job done, but I'm wondering if I could get even better results by using steel wool. Any thoughts?

Still have my number? Give me a call if you want some help. If not send me a PM. I'm off Fri-Sun.

                      Hey 3fitty,

Initially there were a few micro-scratches caused by the steel wool but nothing the rotary and 105 couldn't handle. I think you can expect better results when you try the steel wool out. Give it a go, but as always do a test spot first.

Great work on both. The exhaust looks fantastic.
