After going all winter with no more than the occasional trip through the touch less car wash to rinse the salt off, the front and rear chrome bumpers on my truck were looking a little rough. The front bumper looked the worst. The entire bumper was stained with what looked like hard water spots and who knows what from all the salt and chemicals that they treat the roads with during the winter. There were also a few spots from stone chips that were starting to rust. So after hand washing and drying the truck yesterday, the bumpers still looked terrible.
This is the front bumper after washing and drying the truck. The entire bumper looked like this. You can see all the staining on the chrome as well as the spot where some rust was beginning to show and stain the chrome as well.

Here is a close up with me pointing to the rust spot to give a sense of scale.

So I took the truck into the garage and broke out the blue Meguiar’s Mild Clay which removed practically all of the rust spots and other staining from the bumper. I then followed up with Meguiar’s Chrome Polish on a terry cloth towel by hand.
Here are the results.

Pictures were taken with my cell phone, so they are not the greatest quality, but you get the idea of what a little clay, chrome polish and elbow grease can do though.
