Can we say Orange? - Chevy HHR Detail

This is my girlfriends vehicle and has been on the detail list for sometime now before the back trouble it had a run in with a snow bank and a retaining wall during a snow storm on the interstate once that was fixed a tree limb fell on it during a spring wind storm so as soon as it could be detailed I had some back trouble, so here it is! Oh yeah, she has two dogs and they go everywhere and will do a number on the interior!

    The process:
    1. Wash with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner
    2. Clay with Mirror Glaze Professional Detailing Clay (Mild) and Last Touch Spray Detailer
    3. Speed Glaze (#80) - Applied via PC, this was applied in several areas 2 and 3 times to remove some scratches mainly what was left over from the tree limb.
    4. NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 x2, applied via PC and removed via PC

The rest of the line up:
    NXT Generation Glass Cleaner
    All Season Dressing
    ScratchX
    Quik Detailer Interior
    Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner
    Car Odor Eliminator
    Quik Out Carpet Stain Remover
Power Aide and a Diet Pepsi

    Before:

The interior isn't a 100% but its much better, I spent the most of my time on the exterior since the dogs will take care of the interior. This vehicle I spent more time than I ever have claying, its a little over a year old but it was covered with bonded contaminates anything from tar to sap to who knows what, it was a nightmare.

    After:

The spot on the seat is still wet from the removal of a stain.

The first photo below is after a wash, still looks very bad so after the full detail and some extra time I ended up with what you see in the second photo below. Both sides of the vehicle are in the same condition, its not perfect but not bad considering the condition of the paint. This is an area where road debris gets kicked up and bounces off and the paint now has a very rough texture and probably will never clean up perfect.

    Problem Area:

In the end I was able to remove several scratches giving the results you see here. I had attempted to take photos of some scratches, I have some befores but was not able to get any after as I wasn't sure where the scratches were located so I guess thats good!

    Thanks for looking, enjoy

      wow, what an improvement!

I have always loved that GM color, esp. when it is detailed properly.

      I bet she was happy

Nice turn around! The trouble spots came out great! After seeing how bad those two spots got, I would say GM should rethink their poor body design. That, or they should think about applying some 3M clear film to those areas so they don't get so beat up.

I agree needs some more protection from stones, I suppoes thats why they want you the purchase their molded 'mud flaps'.

Those wheel flares on my Jeep get the same thing.

Love the color, I'm partial to orange though....

Now to keep it that way simply park it in the garage, close the door and drive the other car...
