  • ColorX+NXT 2.0 Wax on 568 Signal Red

Hi All - I thought I should post my end results in a new thread.
As you may know I just had a Water spots problem discussed in a previous thread Water spots & White dots after polishing.

This week end I clayed the whole car again then used ScratchX on the water spots on the roof which was like 80% better than before, from 2 ft you can't see the water spots untill you try to find it very careful under the sun light.
Then I used ColorX on the whole car and followed by a thin layer of NXT 2.0 paste Wax and the end result was amazing.
I also found the ColorX removed some scratches if I put some passion on it.
I would like to thank all of the experts here who gave me some advices in the previous thread.

Here are some pix after I finished the whole car.

And as usual when you just finish the job, it always rains.
Here is how it looked after it rained on the car.

I saw your other thread hamada... first thing you need to do is stop claying the car... that will not remove the water spots since, as mike said, it seems like the water is easily staining your paint... the paint looks to be in pretty good shape though and I think a good machine polishing with a very light polish, maybe #82, if not even #7, would make it pretty much perfect. Try to dry the car before the rain water, or any other water, has a chance to dry on the finish. Otherwise, you did a great job and I really really love red ss paint, simply the best!

          Your results do look great!

Be sure to do your best to keep a good coating of wax on the horizontal surfaces to help prevent future stains as like mentioned in a previous post, it appears as though the single stage paint on your car is easily penetrated by and then stained by water.

          Nice work!

            Thanks all for your comments.
i did the ScratchX test to check for Clear coat or SS and I found it is only the roof which has SS and the rest of the car is CC.
is it safe to use ScratchX or medium abbrasive on CC?

That is interesting. It must have been repainted in the past?

Yes, it is safe to use ScratchX on a clear coat paint system.

                Thanks Mike.
One more question, would the rubbing compund damage the clear coat?

ScratchX isnt like the old fashioned rubbing compounds. It is certainly safe for your CC, though you shouldnt need to use it often.

A mild cleaner shold be fine once the swirls/spots are gone.

The reason I am asking about tougher abbrasives other than ScratchX is that I would like to get the water spots on the roof (SS) 100% gone and some heave swirl marks on the hood and trunk (CC) so I was thinking to use a medium compound to do so.
                    Is it Safe?

Avoid traditional rubbing or polishing compounds completely.

Too abrasive and they will leave your paint looking scoured. In most cases these types of products will tend to dry out your single stage paint which is the opposite of using M07 on it.

Stick with either ScratchX or get yourself a quart of M105 Ultra Cut Compound. It's stronger than ScratchX but still safe to use by hand.

If you start abrading that single stage paint in an effort to completely remove the water stains then you really want to do some polishing afterwards with the M07 and then two good coats of wax to try to seal that surface up.
