hey eveyone,
The other day I helped out a friend with his scratched up BLACK Maxima. This car was side swiped with no other damage (dents) other than a ton of scratches going down the passenger side of the car. I started off using 80 on the pc with no luck. I then tried 83 with the pc again got nothing. I ended up having to bring out the BIG GUN, my Makita rotary. I used the rotary with 84 on a 7006 pad at a speed of 1100-1300 rpm's. I then polished this with 82 and the pc to remove any hazing from the rotary. This got the scratchs down to the point that it now takes the right lite and the right angle to see where they are. Here are some before and after pictures.
Befores:

Afters:

The remaining scratch is about 1/2 inch from the tip of my finger.

The scratch is the blury line about 3/4 inch from the tip of my finger.

The fine line scratches above my finger is what is left after buffing.

This picture shows that it takes the right lite(direct sun) and the right angle to the paint to see what is left of the scratches.
