sometimes things are said because its "not recomended." I would never recomend someone that's not a professional to do it. But to say you CAN'T do something is a limiting the potential of all the products. But again you must trust your skill level to try something.

One thing about Meguiar's product is you need to create your own artisic system for each product and vehicle. There is no cookie cutter process when using Meguiar's.

I will quote myself. Maybe I should have said "DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME"

I knew this post would be outside the box "process speaking" but that's why I love Meguiar's because as a professional sometimes I and others discover things that were never intended for the product to do but it does and does it well.

Anyways, just for everyones info this car was flawless AFTER a wipe down with a ACHOHOL solution once I was done with #105.

My client was extremely happy and signed up for a maintenance plan to avoid future problems.

You know when they started McDonalds people said fast food would never work. So always be careful what you limit anything to. Detailing is an ART and there is NO formula for every car. You must find a system that works for you on each car. I have been detailing for over 12 years as a professional and I still learn things all the time.

That should clear up any confusion as Mike Pennington's reply was very straightforward. That said, just to make sure there is no confusion,

M105 is not formulated for use with a Dual Action Polisher.

Just to add to Mike's excellent post, M105 is a compound and therefore a follow-up polishing step is required. Now with that said, you may come across a paint where you feel that the polishing step is not required, but is the exception rather than the rule.

That being said, if I know anything about humans my $5 says there will soon be a post saying:
" Wow, I hear M105 rocks, so that and my G110 should make finish perfect and wax ready pronto, right?"

i thought mike said you cant use a DA on the #105 and the 7006 Pad?? any1 else can confirm with me?

This is correct, and just to clarify, the "Mike" being referenced above we believe is Mike Pennington, not myself, even though the answer would be the same.

It was formulated to be used primarily in body shops to remove sanding marks and when Professionals are removing sanding marks in the collision repair industry they are almost always using a rotary buffer, thus the reason this product was formulated for use with a rotary buffer.

Try to keep in mind when we talk about our different product lines here on this forum, (and when you read about our products on any other forum), that while there is a lot of interest by enthusiast in our Professional Line, keep in mind these products are designed and formulated for Professionals working primarily on fresh paint. This means people using primarily rotary buffers. Our Professional Line is also used in the Professional Detailing Industry, but again our compounds are designed to be used with a rotary buffer by Professional Detailers removing serious below surface defects.

It is these two markets that our compounds, including M105 are designed for, targeted at and formulated for, not the enthusiasts using a DA Polisher.


Again, at this time, M105 is for use with a rotary buffer and in some cases for Spot Areas, it can be used by hand. It was not formulated for use with a DA Polisher and at this time Meguiar's does not recommend using M105 with a DA Polisher.

Now we have had some people use M105 with a DA Polisher and they have had great results, but that doesn't mean that everyone that uses M105 with a DA Polisher is going to have the same great results, so if you decided to use M105 with a DA Polisher and you're reading this thread, then it's important that you understand it's not a Meguiar's recommendation and we can't guarantee you're going to get the results you're looking for, so you're accepting responsibility for the results on your own.

If you read about someone using M105 with a DA Polisher, understand this is a choice they made on their own, not under direction from Meguiar's.

We understand that because there's so much positive buzz about our new M105 for it's ability to remove defects while leaving a very clear and glossy finish that there's going to be a large number of people that don't use rotary buffers but instead use DA Polishers and it's only normal to want to have a product like this for use with a DA Polisher, but at this time the M105 formula is not designed for use with any DA Polisher.

No, thats not exactly what they mean. Here is a direct quote from Mike Pennington....

Products work differently on different paints. Sometimes you'll find M105 will work wonders with a DA, and the next car you work on, it won't do anything.

Thanks, great explanation.

The reason I chose a D.A. and not Rotary is as some of you may know the new BMW paint is very soft and this car had already been abused very bad with the rotary. The deffects in the paint were all from the rotary so I wasnt dealing with deep scratch - just surface maring from the buffer. All I wanted to do is polish the paint but I needed that good "bite" I knew #105 would give me that. With the D.A. I'm working the surface in a different pattern than the deffects. I used the #7006 because it has the density to cut but it stil is "foam".The paint is so soft that with the right pressure,good pass speed and using last touch to really diminish the abrasives the paint was almost flawless after this step even WITH a wipe down with glass cleaner.
