  • My '69 Z/28 Camaro

It is the start of the toy season here in southeast Texas. Some friends and I have a Good Friday tradition where we meet somewhere for lunch and it usually ends up lasting the rest of the day. This is the first Good Friday in a few years that has had some great weather. I decided to take the Z out for a spin, freshly detailed of course.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Looking at those back tires you don't even think about taking that baby out in the wet, do you?!?!? Heh, I wouldn't either.

Thanks guys. Nope Mike, it doesn't get out in the rain. But those tires do bite.

Under the hood is a .040 over 400 small block, aluminum heads, solid lifter cam, gear drive, and a carter carb. The combo dyno'd at 510 hp / 455 lb-ft. It has a 4.11 posi rear. It is a ton of fun, my mid-life crisis car.

Is it an orginal Z/28? My uncle had a 68 with the orginal 302 with the cross ram dual quad intake and headers. That thing reved to the moon!!!

Thanks guys. No, it is not a numbers matching original Z/28. The rear tires are Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials, slicks with a few grooves in them to pass DOT. I love 'em, you can sink you fingernails into the tread and they do bite!

When I first started on a search for a classic I was set on a first gen camaro and your car reminds me why. Your car just looks like a blast to drive!
