Well, i finally got around to it as its been raining and snowing, all at the same time. it decided to not rain for a couple days in the forcast, so i decided to detail the car. this is some before pics:





you can start to see some of the swirling. too bad you cant too much now, and this 'before' set, was a week after the car was washed for the 1st time. its just not that shiny.

now here are some mid done pics. at the time of these, i rinsed, washed with car soap, bug and tar, washed with dawn, clay bar'd with the smooth surface kit, and washed with gold class.





its getting there. not done yet, but its almost there. the easy part is done. now comes the polish.

ill have pics of the finished product later in the day. its not sunny enough to see the difference. mind you i have to drive the car this morning, so it'll be more of a wash and dry again for the final pictures.

Nice Sentra, it's looking good so far, but PLEASE don't use Dawn, it a great cleaner on your dishes but not so great on your car, because it strips everything off your cars finish and dries out your paint! Making the finish dull and brittle!

P.S. Try some Scratch X on those swirl marks. Use some passion to work it in,you'll be impressed.

Please don't use dawn on your car paint. I do think your car is looking good.

Dawn Soap is not good for washing a car.

technically, i used ajax. i use it to strip the car of its wax and remove the bug and tar as much, as it preps it for claying and then a shampoo. unless meguiars has something that does remove the wax and previous cleaners, the ajax seems to work perfectly fine for the 2nd year. and that is only if im doing a full, meaning the whole 12+ steps or so. well, im off to washing the car, and applying the 2nd coat of wax. i'll have pics up before 3pm central time.

edit - after taking a look at that thread, i guess ajax/dawn wont touch the car again. is there anthing that meguiars has to specifically remove the previous wax or is there no point in doing that?

actually, the clay will remove the wax....

Looks good so far. I am also in Mke/Brookfield, is it raining yet? I'm stuck at work.....

well, it opened up rainging about 3ish yesterday by me (border of mke, glendale, and brown deer) so no pics. it jsut stopped raining about an hour ago, but the car is 'beaded' in rain. im really tempted to go just absorber all over the car. but its going to rain later as well. but i do have pics of yesterday morning that i can show. i'll upload those in a second.

and about clay removing wax, unless i clay wrong or something, the clay war was actually pretty clean. got some smuges in some spots, but thats about it. wasn't necessarily hard to run across the whole car either. iddnt do the wheels though. no need i think. so idk how i'd be able to tell if the wax came off. i did see darkened streaks, and im told that those are the contaminates that left the paint or something.
