I'm not bagging on the Busa, hell all bikes are cool in my book. Its just I never understood those who have owned them. Have you ever seen that video of Ghostrider and his 399 HP Busa doing 200 mph wheelies?

Yeah, ghostrider is insane. I'm 6'3" so there aren't many sportbikes that I can ride comfortably.

While the busa won't win any magazine 1/4 mile races stock anymore, she is still the king of high speed and eats up the 1000's past 130ish. The aerodynamics have yet to be topped by another bike. There are some nuts running around with triple the factory horsepower by adding a turbo and making some really insane runs. I'm curious to see if Suzuki ups the ante before the busa is 10 years old.

It has the fastest topspeed ever recorded at 192.3 MPH (though Busa owners typically will tell your she will do 220...blahblahblah). In 1999, one year after the Busa came up, all the Japanese manufactors caved into European demends (the French) to limit the bikes to 187 MPH (as this will save lives over vs. going 192.3).

The new ZX14 Ninja would likely have a top end nearing 197 if it wasn't limited (though its owners, much like Busa owners are likely to recall stories of going 220) to 187. Also the 100,000 dollar Ducati desmoseidieci is likely the fastest motorcycle ever when it goes into production in several months as it produces 70 more horsepower then Busa and weighs 200 pounds less. Also, Ducati does not govern thier bikes besides heavy pressure from the French, which should leave the topspeed of the bike close to their MotoGP bike which it is based off of. Roughly 208 mph.

    1/4 times from top bikes

    Ducati Desmoseidieci (projected) 9.1 @ 150 MPH
    GSXR1000 9.64 @ 136 MPH
    ZX14R 9.659 @ 141 MPH
    YZF-R1 9.77 @ 137 MPH
    ZX10R 9.77 @ 135 MPH
    CBR1000RR 9.82 @ 134 MPH
    GSX1300R busa 9.84 @ 134 MPH

I thought the Hayabusa was one of the fastest bikes in the world. Looks great. I don't want one because I would probably kill myself on something that fast.

I never understood the whole Busa thing personally. If your gonna have a crotch rocket, it should turn well. Infact, my favorite pastime when riding is looking for idiots on Busa's who "ride around and mess with people" and see if I can convince them to race me on twisties.

I have yet to even come close to being beat (usually winning by several minutes) because I have yet to meet one Busa rider who can drop a knee around a corner. They are the ultimate poser bike (like a Harely) for people who cannot ride well but want to look bad infront of thier friends.

That said, any of the new crop of 1000's will beat a Busa in a straight line and murder it in type of bend, so I guess its a dying breed that I never understood.

    Nice looking bike though....
