I did not have a good first experience with QD last month, so Itried it one more time. I used a Gold Class "Quik Detail" Sponge this time, and oh man it was much easier.
Great Product Meguiar's!!

By The Way, that paint is 5 years old and is parked outiside every day every night, and I work out of it 5 days a week!!!

Those QD Pads really make life easy. If my truck was not a dialy driver and was garaged, I would not use the QD pad. I would more likely go with using a MF folded into quarters then turn to a fresh quarter for each panel. Just less likely to carry a piece of grit from one panel to the nest that way.

But for ungaraged, daily drivers like ours, I think the QD pads make a great maintenace tool. I have about 10-12 of them I guess. I use them once, spray some APC or Simple green on them then throw them in the dirty rag basket.

Yeah, I have about 3 right now that I picked up on clearance from AZ. I am going to keep a bottle of QD and of these sponges in the tool box.

By the way, a few weeks ago I did a complete polish using #83, followed by #81 hand polish, and 2 coats of #16.

Only difference is now I use a 2 bucket system each with grit guards to keep the swirl free finish looking good>>

Truck Looks great! I have yet to use the QD sponge, I have one just haven't pulled it out yet!

That 2 bucket system is the key. Or any wash system that is specifically design to minimize swirl. If you are not going to learn proper wash habits, there is no sense in getting carried away trying to polish paint and getting the perfect look if you are just going to repeat the things that screwed the paint job up in the first place.

When I have buddy's come over and we work their cars up, They will wash the car per my instruction. That's that, end of story. After I polish the paint and apply some wax and they go home, I know they have atleast been taught pro[er wash habits so there will be no excuse for them coming back in a month or 2 and having screwed their paint up. I am a little anal about this. If I am going to put a free detail on your car, i wan't to know you know how to maintain it properly.
