  • 1993 Buick Regal 3800... bathed & prepped.

Not sure if this is 'Extreme' but here goes. Here are some before & after shots. The rest are located in my gallery (see sig). I also took pics of troublesome areas on the Buick; things I can't remove by hand So your opinions are welcome. What do you guys think? I'm pretty concerned about the cracked-looking paint...

    Hi FlaresideLariat,

    What did you use?

When posting a write-up, with before & after pictures, it takes a little time, but including the products and procedures you used to get the results you achieved helps to tell the story.

By the way, the cracks look like they are beyond what any product you pour out of bottle will be able to restore.

I'm sorry I guess that would have been helpful, huh?

Here's what I did (Nine EASY Steps!):
      1. I started off by rinsing the car down from top to bottom, then in a 5 gal bucket, poured in about an ounce of Meguiar's NXT Generation car wash with about 1 gal of water. (That stuff smells like berries )

      2. Next I took my handy dandy wash mitt and started on the hood/front fenders. I know, I know, should have started on the top but the hood was irritating me. After doing that, I rinsed it off.

      3. Continually rinsing my wash mitt after each sectional scrub, I went on to the top, windshield, rear windshield, tailgate, rear fenders, and doors. Then I rinsed it all off.

      4. Right after rinising it all off, I opened my new Viking small chamois. I followed the conditioning instructions, and then went to work. The car was pretty dry when I went to use the chamois. Will I have to use the conditioning step each time I go to use it? Or just to get it going the first time?

      5. When that was done, I got the Turtle Wax spray on wheel cleaner. All I had to do was hose it off. I don't really think it did much, so before I rinsed it off the wheels, I took my scrub brush and scrubbed the hub caps. They were pretty dirty! I noticed I needed a toothbrush to get in the nitty gritty of the wheels, so I dipped that in my bucket o' Meguiar's. Rinsed, scrubbed, repeated on all 4 wheels.

      6. After each wheel was cleaned, (the front wheels had the worst amount of brake dust), I sprayed each tire with STP Son of a Gun Tire Foam and let that sit.

      7. I really was eager to try out my Meguair's Quik Detailer so I grabbed the MOTHER'S wax along with a new applicator. I kind of felt like either the applicator was too damp, or maybe it was just the terry cloth on it, that made removing the wax a sinch? Or maybe I didn't leave it on long enough...

      8. After waxing the hood and front fenders, I took my Meguiar's Quik Detailer, removed the safety tab, "misted" (like the label says) it onto the surface, wiped it in with a clean applicator, and then used the opposite side to dry right away. I did this on parts of the hood, and other troublesome areas (which did not help at all, it seems.) I went around the trim, with where I saw wax residue; I wasn't sure. I then tried to take that off, which led to more faults that I noticed, on the paint (already there).

      9. I started to clean up, since I was getting awfully hungry, and I had only had a hot dog and a very light breakfast this morning, lol. I put everything back where it was, gave the Buick one final look, and set inside to upload my pics.
