  • 2007 Chevy Silverado Z71 2500HD

Over the past two days I have been detailing a Chevy Silverado 2500HD Work Truck. It will be no longer used for work purposes so a good cleaning was in order. The owner also felt I should know that it has never been waxed.

Mud, dirt, dust and grime was present on every possible surface of the vechile. The paint was relatively soft and swirls were minimal. This truck had a lot of bonded contaminants for some reason as well.

Anyways, heres how it looked upon arrival:

Its obvious from the pictures that this truck needs a good cleaning. I washed it twice to ensure all grime was gone. I washed body with NXT Generation Car Wash and a Microfiber Wash Mitt

The wheels were washed with Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner and a Versa Angle Wheel Brush:

As soon as I sprayed Super Degreaser on the tires this started to run off:

I then proceeded to wash all the tires with Deep Crystal Car Wash and a Versa Angle Tire Brush:

The wheel wells were cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner and a brush, then rinsed with water:

After washing the entire truck twice from top to bottom I decided to make my way to the inside of the truck, as seen in the before pictures, the interior was very dirty and the floormats and part of the carpet had caked on mud. Before doing anything I took out the floormats and any other things I could remove, here is a small pile of parts I took out:

For the interior I used this and the carpets got a good scrubbing with it as well:

After cleaning the inside of the truck, I dressed it with #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner and the leather got Gold Class Leather Cleaner & Conditioner. The floormats were scrubbed with #39 - Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner

Now its time for the exterior:

I started by claying with the Smooth Surface Clay Kit and #34 - Final Inspection. After this cleaned/polished the paint with #66 - Quick Detailer (Cleaner/Wax) on SoftBuff 2.0 Polishing Pad at speed 4 on the G110. Then I used Ultimate Quik Wax on the truck upon delivery.

    Nasty clay:

    During the clay process:

The tires were dressed with Gold Class Endurance High Gloss

Exterior trim got some #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner and the exterior chrome got Hot Rims Chrome Polish:

Final shots of the whole truck:

Truck Looks Great Nick! That was a big project to tackle!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

Nick, the truck looks fantastic. You would have a hard time believing at one time that was a work truck. Excellent work. Way to go.
