Yes, it was base/clear. And yes the clear IS failing.

Let me just add that this will not last. That clear is toast, and I just gave it a band aid for a bit. If the owner stays on top of it and keeps polish/wax on it monthly or bi monthly, it will last a little longer. But for the most part, it needs a total repaint. The owner just needed about 1 more year out of this car.

I gave him a complete bumper to bumper warranty though. Good until he pulled out of the driveway

Yep. all in the same day. Actually about 5 hours worth of work. I really wasn't going for perfection here, just getting the dead paint off and getting some shine back in it. 95 and the Solo wool worked very well. I tried 95 and a red foam pad for a little bit, but I had to clean the pad after every pass. All that dead paint was just loading up the foam pad, so wool was the better choice here.

M205 is awesome! Definitely a must have for you guys! This stuff has a great working cycle, and does a VERY good job at removing buffer swirls and defects. I would highly suggest picking some up if you can. Here's another shot of M205 from my Lightning I've been slowly bringing back to life(note: those marks around my light are actually pitting in the paint, no way to remove them )...

As usual Nick, Great work. That is a huge improvement. That car was nasty. It looks so much better now. What a improvement. Way to go.

I trust that the owner bowed down and worshipped you when he picked it up.

Yup, extreme is a good description.

What did you use? M95, M105, Krylon Clear?

    Great work!

Used 95 and a Solo red wool pad, then the new M205 and a black foam pad. All rotary. I think I have a total of about 5 hours in this project. Definitely not perfect, not even close. But at least it shines.....right?
